First Week of School

What a privilege it has been to be a part of an amazing first four days of school! We have seen excited, curious, enthusiastic, nervous, eager students walk through the doors each day. Thank you parents for getting your children to school on time and helping them be ready to learn each day. Making the transition from summer to early mornings and a structured school environment can be challenging, so let's continue working together to help all students do their best each and every day.

Car line

Thank you parents who drop-off and/or pick-up for your cooperation in the car line. We will continue to work together to make our arrival and dismissal as safe and efficient as possible. Friday morning will be our first school day with all Kindergarten students present, so please be patient and cautious while dropping off on Friday.

If you are looking for a faster way to drop-off children in the morning, consider using the middle school car loop. Children are able to walk under a covered walkway from the middle school side of campus to the elementary side, and are visible to staff at the elementary school the entire way. This may not be suitable for K-1 students unless they have an older sibling to walk with them.

Independence Day

All elementary schools in the district will celebrate Independence Day next Wednesday, August 29. This means we are asking that Tuesday, August 28 be the last day that parents walk their children to class in the morning. We will have GHES staff and students from the student leadership team available to help students get to class who may need it.

Read Your Way to the Big Game Contest

All pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students who read six books will qualify to win tickets to the Clemson vs. South Carolina game on November 24
