HONORS LIT DRAMA SUMMER READING
Death of a Salesman & Long Day's Journey into Night
Summer Reading Assignment
In order to make your fall semester easier, two of our plays will be assigned over the summer. I would like you to read and enjoy these plays, so I am NOT assigning huge journals or projects. However, be ready for a multiple choice, "prove you read it" typical summer reading assessment on both.
We will also have a graded discussion, similar to a Socratic Seminar, on both plays. Prepare your discussion notes for specific themes and characters; you can find these using the links below.
Required Reading: (read in any order)
Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
Long Day's Journey Into Night by Eugene O'Neill
*see me before school ends to borrow a copy of the play, OR buy your own copy, OR borrow from any local library. (free pdf links below as well)
