From The Principal:

It's almost time for our annual Fall Festival! We hope you can join us on Tuesday, from 5:30-7:00, for a night of fun and games!

We are still collecting warm clothing items for Socktober! Join in and help us bring socks, gloves, hats, and scarves to a local charity to help those in need this winter! We appreciate your help!

Report cards will go home tomorrow, so please be sure to check your child's backpack on Friday night.

Red Ribbon Week October 23rd - 27th

Monday- Don't make yourself a target!- Camo shirt within dress code with uniform bottoms.


Tuesday- Sock it to Drugs- Crazy Socks with regular uniform.


Wednesday- “I can be anything when I am drug free” Book Character Day: Dress as your favorite book character. MUST bring the book that you are the character from.

NO MASK OR WEAPONS!


Thursday- Team up Against Drugs- Team jersey or athletic shirt with uniform bottoms.


Friday- Red Out!- Wear red shirt with uniform bottom or $1 jean day.

Fall Festival:

We are asking that each child donate ONE bag of candy or prizes . Please send in candy bags/prizes to your grade level teacher by Friday, October 20th. Thank you for helping with fall fest!

Volunteers Needed: October 24th from 5:30-7pm. Ask your student's homeroom teacher where your help is needed the most. Parenting Points will be earned for parents that volunteer.

Art/Music- Is asking for donations of boxes of candy bars, such as, Snickers, M&M's, Twizzlers, Sour Patch Candy Box, Hershey's bar box, Twix bar box, etc.

Please turn in by October 20th.


We will sell tickets for our Fall Festival the week of October 16th.

We are selling the tickets in increments of 5's, so, 5 tickets for $5, 10 tickets for $10, 15 tickets for $15, 20 tickets for $20. Students are responsible for money and tickets once passed out. Tickets will also be sold the night of the festival as well.

Uniform Exchange & Resale

October 24th starting at 5:00 pm, we will be having our Uniform Resale and Exchange. Remember that you can exchange up to 6 items and all items are $1 each. If you would to donate any gently used school uniforms you may do so at the front office.

Spirit Ribbons:

Every Thursday & Friday until 11/10, we will be selling spirit ribbons to support our Life School Waxahachie football team the Mustangs for $1. They will be sold every Thursday & Friday in the atrium before school. Please have to correct change for the ribbons.

Yearbook:

It's SCARY paying more for a yearbook than you have to. The 2018 Life School of Red Oak yearbook is now on sale for $30 through 10/27. The price will go up after this date. Order forms have been sent home or could be picked up in the front office. There are 4 ways to pay. You can bring cash (exact amount) or check (payable to Life School Red Oak) with this form to the front office. or you can also pay online at jostensyearbooks.com with credit card or Paypal. Online you can also choose to make 3 easy and automatic payments.

Book Character Day:

Wednesday, October 25th will be our Book Character Day! Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character and bring the book in which the character appears to school. Each class will be participating in various literacy activities throughout the day, including joining a Character Parade. See the Book Character Day flyer for more information, such as costume guidelines, etc.

From Our Music Teacher:

2nd Grade Christmas Show-Students have received their scripts this week in music class. Please bring these scripts back to Music every week to use in class. Students have chosen a speaking part to audition for. We will host brief auditions for speaking parts during the weeks of Oct. 23 and Oct. 30. If your child does not receive the part they want they will still be participating in the play as part of our choir. I will be sending your child home with a note for you to sign if they have been chosen as one of our speaking characters. If they did not receive a Speaking Part Acceptance note, they will sing in the choir dressed as a North Pole Character such as an elf, reindeer, penguin, polar bear etc.
