Aiming to Keep You Informed
May 3, 2019
From the Office
It was finally sunny today! Students and staff were able to take advantage of the nice weather today and participate in the American Heart Association Run/Walk event.
Unfortunately, due to the rain this week, two Track meets were cancelled. We are working to reschedule one of them for next week. Stay tuned. The Conference Meet is scheduled for Monday, May 13th at Lake Park East, beginning at 1:30pm.
This week, we met with 7th grade students regarding placements for 8th grade Spanish. Due to the high number of interested students, we currently have a waiting list. Students who have currently been selected for Spanish, were informed of the likely period they would be taking Spanish next year and asked to let us know if they have changed their mind regarding taking Spanish in 8th grade. For students on the waiting list, we will reach out to students if and when spots open up. Typically, we have some movement in numbers between May and the start of the next school year. If your child was selected for 8th grade Spanish and they have changed their mind, please notify us as soon as possible. Thank you!
Spring Concerts
We hope you are able to join us next week for the Jazz & Concert Band Performance on Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00pm and the Choir Concert on Wednesday, May 8th at 7:00pm!
5th to 6th Grade Transition
On Friday, May 10th, we will be visiting with 5th graders at both DuJardin and Erickson. Parents and all 5th graders are invited to visit Westfield on Monday, May 13th for Transition Night, starting at 7:00pm in the Westfield Gym.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Attention Parents of 8th Graders: Just a reminder about 9th grade physicals
The Illinois State Board of Education in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Public Health require that all students entering 9th grade show proof of receiving mandated vaccinations, in addition to receiving a physical exam, and a dental exam. Please make certain that your child receives the required immunizations and that they are recorded on his/her immunization record. These completed requirements (vaccinations, physical exam, and dental exam) will ensure that your student will be ready to start high school in the fall of 2019.
The physical examination must be recorded on the Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination form and dated within one year of the first day of school attendance for the 2019-2020 school year. (This form may be used in lieu of a sports physical form, but a sports physical form may not be used for the 9th grade mandated physical!) Physicians have the mandated form in their offices.
Please be aware that physicians’ offices are often busy during the summer months; be certain to book your appointment early!
