What you need if your interested
To become a mental health counselor you will need to go through an large amount of schooling. Which includes receiving a Bachelors Degree then a Masters Degree, and finally completing a Doctorate ,or PhD program , there are many several school in Virginia that offer this course such as South University , James Madison , Longwood University , Old Dominion and many more .
Mental health counselors earned a median salary of $40,580 in 2013, or $19.51 per hour, according to the BLS. The best-paid earned more than $67,020, while the lowest-paid earned less than $25,840.
People looking to pursue this line of work must earn bachelor's or master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or another related field. They must also earn and maintain a license to practice psychotherapy. Experience working in clinical counseling is preferred, and certain positions require experience working with a certain demographic. Those who choose this career path generally work in hospitals or standalone clinics, but some may travel to other shelters and facilities.
