All-Star Announcements

Beacon Tree Families:

The first week is under our belts! You can feel the love and energy in this building and my cheeks seriously hurt from so much smiling and laughing with you and your children. As I stated previously, my true love is watching learning in action, and I am seeing some amazing things going on here at Beacon Tree. The TEACHERS! The TEACHERS! WOW! They have the perfect love language for students, and it is so uplifting to witness firsthand. I look forward to being able to continue to observe such greatness every day.

I appreciate your flexibility and patience as we navigate the new parking lot procedures together. There are a few tips I would like to remind families of:

*Parents are to park in the south lot ONLY.

*When dropping off, please use the drop off lane and not the passing lane.

*Please have your child ready to exit the car upon entering the parking lot. In order to keep the line moving, we cannot have parents getting out and opening the doors for their kiddos.

*Please respect our staff at all times.

TOGETHER, we can master this! :)

The cost of device insurance has increased from $15.00 to $17.50 per student. The Payschools website has changed to Payschools Central. In order to purchase the device insurance parents will need their child(ren) student ID number (which can be found on the report card) and create a NEW Payschools Central account. The directions for creating an account can be found at: https://www.uticak12.org/domain/85

Please note that the final date to enroll in the optional device insurance plan is Friday, September 8th.

Devices on Busses

Please remember that students are not allowed to use their devices on the bus. If you could help us out and remind your children as well, we appreciate it.

From our btv...

"We are excited to welcome Mrs. Lenz, our new staff members, and families to the Beacon Tree community. We’ve been hard at work finalizing the calendar of events for this year and will be sharing it soon. Until then, we have the meeting dates set for 2023 and our Grade Level Tee sale starting this Friday. Order forms can be found at beacontreevolunteers.com. Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

School officially begins at 9:00 AM. Students may begin lining up at their designated locations and supervision begins at 8:50 AM.

*There are TWO separate lot loops. The NORTH lot will be the designated BUS LOOP and the SOUTH lot will be the DROP OFF LOOP.

Arrival Procedures:

  • Students will line up outside their designated main door beginning at 8:50 until the doors open.
  • The drop off lane in the parking lot will allow students to exit vehicles on the passenger side and walk to their line up spot.
  • Supervision does not begin until 8:50. Parents DO NOT leave your child unattended or drop them in the drop off lane prior to our supervision times.

Dismissal:

Walkers/car riders/pickups will be dismissed from their door locations at 3:50 PM. At the 3:50 bell, teachers (or safety/service squad students) will walk all lower grade bus students to their bus for departure.

Security Procedures

We are asking for your assistance to ensure that our security procedures during the school day are effective. As many of you know, our school has a security camera, intercom, and buzzer at the front main entrance for use during the school day. To help us assist you when you would like to enter the school:

1. Please press the buzzer to speak with someone in the office

2. You will be asked to state your name and reason for visiting

3. You may be asked to show your photo ID into the security camera above the outside door

4. Office staff will then be able to buzz you inside

5. All visitors must immediately register in the office

In addition, we are asking you to not let any visitors in the door as you enter (and they come up behind you) or as you exit the building.

The teachers and staff are committed to student safety and security and we would like to thank you for your assistance in helping keep the students of Beacon Tree safe.

Important Note About PaySchools for the 2023-24 School year

PaySchools has improved its platform this year to provide a system that is consistently more reliable and user friendly. The end result for parents will be that the information they need will be personalized for their child.

As a result, families will be asked to recreate an account (even if you previously had a PaySchools account). Once created, you will be provided with those product choices that directly relate to your child.

Just follow these easy steps:

  • Create an account from your computer or tablet at: www.payschoolscentral.com
  • Complete the account registration by selecting register, enter your profile details, setting up your password via the email link that will be sent to you, then logging in.
  • Add your children to your account using their student ID numbers. ID numbers are found on their report card available through PowerSchool.
  • If you like, enter credit card and/or banking information as forms of payments to use with your PaySchools account.

A complete guide (with screen shots) is available at this link.

School Meals

All meals are free this year thanks to the Michigan School Meals law (2A). Students that would like to be eligible for benefits, such as pay-to-participate sports, college entrance/AP testing fees, summer EBT cards and more need to complete the Eligibility Benefits Form or the School Meals and Summer EBT Form (2B). These forms are available at https://utica.familyportal.cloud. Please encourage your parents to complete these forms to ensure our Title I and other specialized funding is received from the state. Paper applications are arriving at your schools this week. For Elementary schools please only send 1 copy home with either the oldest or the youngest child in the family. Secondary schools please have paper copies available in your main offices.

Breakfast Procedure

If your child is coming in for breakfast, they must enter through the main doors and proceed directly to the gym. Doors will open at 8:40. Please do not have your child enter at this time if they are not eating breakfast.
