Next Year 2016

Can you even believe? Looking forward to next season, the Brownie Girls are interested in horse back riding, tour of Reunion Tower and camping.

Horse&Me is sponsored by council at Whispering Cedars Camp on February 20, 10:00-12:00 or 1:00-3:00. Join us to earn the Happy Horse badge. You'll learn all about horses and how to care for them. Lots of hands-on activities with limited horseback riding time. The cost is $10 per girl-paid by parents.(

The Reunion Tower GeO-Deck is a troop organized event that we can pick a date (say March?). The cost is $10 per girl, 0.51 for a penny press and optional lunch/snack. This is a rare new opportunity as the deck has just recently opened to the public.

Outdoor Tent Camping!! The Brownies raved about, we will go camping again. This time we will push their comfort level a bit by camping at the Chambersville Tree Farm. ( This will be in April so details will be decided much later.

Volunteer Training

Getting the the best training at the correct level of skill is the only way to attend as a volunteer. This link takes you to the start for volunteering in Girl Scouts. Also, to be able to work along side the girls, volunteers must be a registered Girl Scout member, criminal background checked and at least have on-line trained through these checkpoints...volunteer policies&procedures, volunteer essentials and safety activity checkpoints (all found at the link above). This applies to Cookie Booth Sales.

To be considered as a camp volunteer you must have at least this level of training-TR301: GSNETX CAMPING (EVENT FULL) Date: Sat Nov 21 2015, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM This course provides the certification as a “Troop Camp Trained Adult” so you can camp with girls at GSNETX campsite properties. Unfortunately, this event is full there may be another offered later but as of yet next years trainings are not listed.
