Oak Hills Newsletter
Week of March 13, 2023
Message from the Principal
Dear Oak Hills Families,
Welcome to a new school week! Please take a moment to review the information about the Lockdown Drill on Wednesday. Teachers will prep students, but we also want families to be informed. You may choose to brief your child ahead or time or have context when they share the experience.
It was fun to see students, staff, and families at the PTO Family Bingo Night. There is a collage of photos below. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible. It is always so special to see students with families, friends, and neighbors!
Save the date: Thursday, April 6th (5-7pm)--Family STEM Night. All students and families are invited to this event. Check out the flyer below. We will share more information soon.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Ms. Do
Notification to Families: Lockdown Drill on Wednesday, March 15
As part of our safety learning each year, we are required to host monthly emergency drills. Our safety drills give us an opportunity to practice for a range of emergency situations. Our monthly emergency drills this year include fire drills, earthquake drills, secure drills, and lockdown drills. During the weeks of March 13th and March 20th we are scheduled to practice both a lockdown drill and a secure drill. Teachers will review school-based safety plans with students beforehand, so our students are well prepared for any drill or emergency situation, should the need for an immediate response arise.
Please talk with your child at home about the importance of preparing for safety emergencies. You may consider working with your child to make an emergency evacuation plan, checking your emergency supplies, or replenishing items from a first aid kit as part of your family conversation. These are some of the many ways we work to keep ourselves safe!

PTO Volunteer Opportunities
This Wednesday!
Reading with our students (and volunteering) is like a shot of Vitamin D to the soul. And it is March in Beaverton, we could all use a bit of a day brightener.
PTO folks are welcoming you to school to read in the k-2 classrooms, tour the school, and you will be invited to stay for coffee and a visit.
