K4-2nd grade Christmas concert at Clinton Christian Academy (LOCATION CHANGE). Students should arrive to the CCA gym by 6:20pm. Dress is dressy Christmas attire; no jeans or tennis shoes unless that is all you have. Girls should have shoulders covered, no spaghetti straps.

On this Day in History: December 10th

Many things have happened throughout history on December 10th. Huckleberry Finn was published December 10th, 1884. In 1887, Mississippi was admitted as the 20th state. In 1906, the first Nobel Prizes were given. --Priscilla

Peppermint Bark Recipe

The ingredients you will need to make peppermint bark is:

12 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped
12 oz. white chocolate, chopped
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
8 candy canes, crushed

First, you need to line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Fill the bottom of a large pot with 3 inches of water and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and place a large, heatproof bowl on top of it. Add in semi-sweet chocolate and stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted. Stir in the peppermint extract. Pour it into the prepared baking sheet and evenly spread it with a spatula. Refrigerate until it is fully set which should be around 20 minutes. Over the same pot of barely simmering water, place another large heatproof bowl. Add white chocolate and stir until it is fully melted. Pour over set semi-sweet chocolate and immediately top it with candy canes. Refrigerate until its set, which should be about 20 minutes. (Recipe credits to delish.com) --Taylor

Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Staley

Ms. Staley currently works in the office, as the administration secretary. She is also a Para and a sub when needed. She first came to CCA in 2010 to enroll her two boys, Justin & Gauge in K-4 and K-5.

She attended high school at Prairie View in LaCygne, Kansas. Ms. Staley attended college at Drury University, located in Springfield, MO and she taught preschool for four years at the Developmental Center of the Ozarks. Isaiah 41: 10 is her favorite Bible verse. Ms. Staley has two dogs and she enjoys watching the KC Chiefs and doing things outdoors (hiking and camping) in her spare time. We are glad to have you in the office this year! --Audrey

Survey Says...

This week the Survey Says question was, "Would you rather purchase ornaments to decorate your Christmas tree, or make them?" Out of 81 students in 3rd-12th grade that were asked, 52 said purchase and 29 said homemade ornaments are best.

Basketball GJV and BV @ Home vs. Show Me Christian. JV girls will play at 4 and Varsity boys will play at 5:30pm. (Student Section Theme is: N.E.O.N)

Basketball BJH, GV, and BV @ Home vs. CPRS. JH Boys play at 4:30pm, Varsity Girls at 5:30pm and Varsity Boys at 7pm. (Student Section Theme: Silent Night, wear a Christmas Sweater). Pep Club needs all parents & students in attendance to help with this...please refrain from cheering for CCA until they score 10 points. After 10 points all spectators can cheer as much as they want. We will begin "Silent Night" in the Girl's Varsity Game. At half-time we will all sing the 1st verse of Silent Night together. The same will go for the Boy's Varsity Game. Cheer will be cheering during the Boy JH Game from 4:30-5:30pm, so we will not partake in "Silent Night" during their game.

Basketball GJH, BV, and GV @ Overland Christian (7016 W 74th St, Overland Park, KS). GJH will play at 4:30, Boy Varsity at 5:30 and Girl Varsity at 7pm.

5/6th Grade Girls and Boys Basketball

The 5th and 6th grade girls and boys basketball teams played Leesville at Home on Monday, December 6th. Both teams have improved greatly since the beginning of the season. The boys won with a score of 40-18 and the girls won with a score of 22-9. Both teams set up good offense and played good team ball. Keep up the hard work! Pictures below.--Marlee & Audrey
