NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 4 | 18 MAY 2022
The Year 3 students started Geography this Term and have been learning about Australia. They have learnt that Australia consists of 6 States and 2 Territories and are having fun learning each Capital City. The students have gained an Australian Passport to travel around Australia and visit all the wonderful natural and man-made landmarks that this diverse and beautiful country has to offer, such as: Uluru, the Three Sisters, the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney Harbour Bridge. There are no limits to Google Maps and the internet when it comes to exploring the Geography of this amazing country, that we call home.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Well done to our students in Years 3 and 5 for completing their Naplan tests over the course of Weeks 3 and 4. We had several children who needed to sit catch up tests due to being ill with Covid. This is a timely reminder to all families that Covid is still prevalent in our school community and that sick children msut be kept at home and tested if they present with Covid symptoms.
On Friday we are having a Crazy Hair day to raise much needed funds for LifeLink. Lifelink Day aims to promote an understanding of the Church’s response to people in need within the community and to instil within our students a sense of responsibility for caring for those less fortunate. Our Crazy Hair day is a practical demonstration of our faith and the money we raise supports those with a real need in our community. We look forward to seeing many creative and crazy hairstyles on Friday for a gold coin donation.
Last week I visited PPB and it was wonderful to spend time with the children in learning rotations to embed their knowledge on 3D shapes. There were many hands on experiences and the children engaged with great delight in constructing 3D shapes and matching common 3D shapes in the environment, by their features.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents that primary aged children need to have at least 10 hours sleep per night. Please ensure that digital devices are not kept in bedrooms as these can be a distraction to children and can cause sleep disturbances. Children should come off screens at least 1 hour before their bedtime.
As we head towards the end of the week, as a school community l ask that each one of you commit to modelling to others the kindness we want to see around our school.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
Please keep all affected by Covid in your prayers.
God bless you.
