Many Hands, One Mason!!

September 29, 2019

Dear Mason Families,

I hope everyone is having a great day so far! Just a reminder that all families will receive an email this evening (9.29) at 6 pm with a link to sign up for a confernce time with your child's teacher. If you need any help signing up for conferences, please come into the main office and we can help you. Starting Monday morning at 9 am, we will also have computers set up in the main office if anyone doesn't have a computer or smart phone they can use to sign up for conferences at home.

We had a very successful Evacuation Drill this week. Thank you so much to our local public safety department and our Mason families who volunteered their time to help us get there safely. While we hope we never have to evacuate the building, it is a great feeling knowing that we are prepared if the need arises. Thanks for your dedication to safety.

Thanks for your patience,

Roy Bishop, Jr.

Principal

Conference are coming!!!

Dear Mason Families,

Can you believe parent-teacher conferences are right around the corner!?! This year, conferences will be held on Oct. 9th and Oct. 10th and we are going to an electronic format with our conference sign up process. Families will be able to start signing up for conferences starting Sunday, Sept. 29th at 6 pm. The conference links will remain open until Oct. 6th at 6 pm.

The link, that will be sent out this Sunday, Sept. 29th at 6 pm, will take you to the Sign-Up Genius link for each classroom teacher at Mason. Please click the link for your child's teacher and select a 15-minute slot that works for your family. If you have multiple conference times to sign up for, please don’t schedule them back to back. We would like for you to leave a 15-minute block of time between each child so you can make it to your conferences on time.

Thanks for your time,

Sincerely,

Roy Bishop, Jr.

Principal

From The Office

Entering the building

We appreciate your kindness. However, please do NOT hold the door open for anyone, even Mr. Bishop. We need everyone to ring the buzzer so we know who is entering the building. Thank you for your co-operation in keeping our students safe.

Appointments and Attendance

It can't be helped, we understand appointments happen during the school day. Please remember to call the attendance line for early dismissals, late arrivals or whole day absence. The attendance line is open 24 hours a day. The more notice you give the better. Thank you!

Drop off and pick up

Please continue to let your students enter and leave the building on their own with their classmates. They are doing a great job!

Count Day - October 2, 2019

Count day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. Count information is critical to districts, because each student translates into state funding. LEA and ISD state aid is based on number of students legally enrolled on or before count day. Please be sure to get your student to school on time.

Pop/Can Tops For Ronald McDonald House

Your student might have brought home a ziploc bag this week. These are for students to fill with pop/can tops to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charity in Ann Arbor at U of M Mott Children's Hospital. When bags are full, they can be turned into the office at Mason or given to Mrs. Aouad. We will be collecting all year!
Big picture

A NEW WAY TO TRACK BOX TOPS PARTICIPATION!

Now when families use the Box Tops app to scan their store receipt, they can "Give Credit" to an individual, classroom or grade level. To "Give Credit" make sure you have the latest version of the Box Tops app, scan your receipt, then tap the star icon to enter your "Give credit" memo.

Bell Schedule

Parents/Visitors at Mason

For the safety of all of our students, all parents and visitors must go directly to the office to sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass. This pass must be worn and visible at all times while in the building. Please remember to sign out when you leave.

DOCTOR NOTE? ATTENDANCE UPDATE

The GPPSS has modified attendance codes for our district to keep consistent records at all schools. What's important for you to know?

  1. Medical appointments now require a doctor's note for an excused absence.

  2. Tardies are now split out in six minutes increments, giving a better picture of our students arriving late.

Attendance is a serious matter. We need to know where your child is when they do not show up for regular school hours. Please use the attendance line 313-432-4401 to report an absence prior to 9:00 a.m.
