Founded in 1541, the country of Chile is a long and narrow, stretching along the South American Western Boarder. It has 4,300 km. of the Pacific Ocean. It's capital, Santiago, sits in a valley surrounded by the Andes mountains and the Chilean coast range mountains. The Parque Metropolitano, a massive park popular to locals and tourists, offers swimming pools, a botanical garden, and a zoo! Chile is a country rich in culture with many fascinating attractions.

- In 1960, Chile had one of the most heart-breakings disasters in Chile history! They had an massive 9.5 earthquake that killed nearly 1,500 people, and left over 2,000 people homeless.
- One of Chiles most amazing attractions is it has the worlds largest swimming pool - measuring a depth of 115 feet! It takes 66 million gallons of water just to fill it up!
- If you love the 4th of July, then you need to visit Chile! In 2009, Chile set a world record of setting off 16,000 fireworks!
- Michelle Bachelet Jeria was the first woman president ever in Chile and was elected in January 2006.
- The alerce tree, found in southern Chile, are know for some being over 4,000 years old.
