Carleton Washburne
Monday Memo - June 6, 2022
Washburne Families,
Welcome to the last memo of the year. We wanted to take a moment to thank our Washburne families for your collaboration and support throughout this year. It truly has been a team effort. It has been so wonderful to see many Washburne traditions return this year. Last week’s Field Day was an awesome example of how our community works together to create a memorable experience for students. A huge thank you to our KW staff for coordinating and our parent volunteers for helping run the field events. Our students had a great time as evidenced by the pictures below.
Please take a moment to read through a number of end-of-year reminders included in this memo. 7th Grade families, we look forward to seeing you again in August; 8th Grade families, we can’t wait to celebrate the Class of 2022 with you on Tuesday; and to all of our families, we wish you a safe, healthy and wonderful summer holiday.
Take Care and Be Well,
Andrew Fenton & Ben Horwitz
Washburne Principal & Assistant Principal

School Supplies and KW Uniforms
It is time to order your school supply kits for the 2022-23 school year. The deadline for ordering is July 1st. CLICK HERE to order.
We have heard that some families have already received their box of supplies for next year. Our school supply provider shared that with the supply chain challenges in recent months, they wanted to be sure to get supplies to our families in case there becomes a shortage or delivery delay later on this summer. We realize this is earlier than anticipated to receive supplies for August and we apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for understanding.
Next year, our 7th and 8th Graders will need a KW uniform daily. We are partnering with an online vendor, to ensure uniforms arrive by the start of the school year. Students will need a pair of shorts and a KW shirt and we encourage students to purchase sweats for colder weather. The uniform store will be open for online orders until June 9th.
Please make sure to order your uniform to ensure it arrives by the beginning of the school year. Washburne KW Uniform Link

The end of the trimester is a time for students to demonstrate their learning and showcase the skills that they have learned. This was certainly the case in Beginning Guitar, a class designed to teach students with limited musical experience how to play the instrument. This past week, students in the class held an “Informance,” an informal performance to play songs for a live audience. Parents, teachers, and fellow students joined the audience to cheer on and support our learners. Students played everything from basic melodies, such as the Can Can, to harder tunes like Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me.”
Kudos to Ms. Scott for organizing this performance and for our students for showcasing their new skills.
