Aug./Sept. Parent Newsletter

Principal's View

I want to send out a huge welcome to everyone! I am very excited to get this year rolling! We have a lot that we want to accomplish over the next 170+ days with all of our students.

As always, school attendance has to be a priority for you. I say you because at the elementary level it really is about you making sure they are here each day and for the full day. Our official start time is 8:15 A.M. It is my wish for every student to have eaten breakfast and be in their room no later than that time. We dismiss at 3:15 P.M. I totally understand that there are appointments and such that come up, but the more consistent students can be in their attendance, the better.

Also, our district goal is to improve reading levels for all of our students. Research shows that 20 minutes a day helps students make major gains in their reading abilities. I get life happens and a commitment to 20 minutes a day may be hard for busy families. However, if you can commit to 20 minutes a day four times a week, I am confident we will see similar gains.

As I mentioned, I am very excited about this school year. I hope that you will partner with the school as we try to make this the best year ever for our students and staff! Together, we can create a top quality school!

P.T.'s New Faces

Zoe Martin

My name is Zoe Martin, and this is my very first year of teaching. I am so exited to join the Pioneer Trail family and the first grade team!

I am from St. Louis, Missouri. I am a big St. Louis Blues fan, and I love to watch hockey. In my free time I like to spend time with my family and freinds. I also enjoy photography. One fun fact about me is that I was adopted when I was 8 months old!

In the Spring of 2018, I graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia (Mizzou) with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Through my education at Mizzou, I gained experience in the classroom through being a pre-service teacher in the Columbia Public School District and through student teaching in a first grade classroom in Jefferson City Public Schools. After student teaching, I completely fell in love with Jefferson City Public Schools, and I feel so lucky to be in such a great district!
