SCHOOL VALUE THIS TERM: 'TO BE RESPECTFUL'
These are for our Vogeltown learners to be:
Inclusive (Whakaru), Respectful (Whakaute), Original (Tipu), Courageous (Kaha) and Kind (Atawhai).
These values were chosen by the staff, learners and community of Vogeltown School in 2019.
This term we are focusing on being 'respectful'.
TE REO FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
KIA ORA VS WHANAU, FROM MR O
The term has started positively with less Covid-19 protocols in place at Orange setting. It was so nice to see parents back on site this week, to see everyone's full face and come through the gates rather than stopping at the gate. It was also great to have both our school sites back together - it felt like the family was back together!
You can furrher read some of the Orange setting protocols for the school in the Covid-19 section below.
We return to a normal timetable for both schools this week and while we remain at Orange setting. This means on the senior site, we have the Huatoki teams and Paetoki teams having their morning tea and lunch breaks together again. A reminder we close at 3pm on both school sites from now on.
Our school value focus for this term is 'being respectful'. We always talk about the Vogeltown way and how we speak politely to each other, use our manners, invite friends to join in games and participate and contribute at school. It has been great to see all our learners show this value this week - Ka mau to weke team!
A big thanks to all those whanau who filled out our 'Community Survey', we will publish these results in week 3 after our BOT meeting. We appreciate all the feedback we received and were very humbled with the results!
Have a great weekend whanau - enjoy this wonderful Autumn weather! To all those involved in winter sports this weekend (or over this week) good luck and show them what Vogeltowners area all about!

COVID-19 UPDATE AT VOGELTOWN SCHOOL - WEEK 1, TERM 2
It is great to see the rates of Covid cases at Vogeltown slow down at the end of last term and over the holiday break. We know that a third of our learners and community have experienced covid and we know that all of our learners have recovered! This was our biggest concern and is great to see that it has been mostly a mild illness for many.
We are still expecting cases to crop up at Vogeltown in term 2, however it will not be as busy as Term 1 became. We will continue to communicate with our families and give you weekly updates. Thanks to the families who are letting us know if they need to isolate or if they are keeping their child home. Please can we ask that you let the school office know as well as the classroom teacher - either by email, Skool Loop, text or call. Our school mobile number is 021 753 680.
Please see below for how we will tackle school at Vogeltown in the 'Orange setting'.
Also see below for the latest update of Covid in our school.

MR O'S FRIENDLY REMINDERS
1) Please remember to contact the school office if your child is absent. You can do this via Skool Loop, text 021 753 680 or ph 06 753 6843. Please do not use SeeSaw for student absences - these must come through the office.
2) Please be courteous before and after school with parking around the school sites. We have lots of kids and not enough parks, so please allow time to get to school and be patient around the streets.
Thanks whanau
Stay safe and be kind to each other. Thank you for the ongoing support of Vogeltown School, we appreciate the community we live in.
On behalf of the Vogeltown team,
