Lady Lions Finish Season 20-3
The Lady Lions fell to Silver Creek in the championship game of Sectional 30. The loss broke a 3 year streak of sectional championships for the Lady Lions. The graduating seniors finished their careers with a fantastic four year total of 91 wins against only 16 losses! Seniors Bailey Hypes, Karly Sweeney, Katie Ezzell, Olivia Weber and Callie Backherms were all part of 3 sectional championships, 2 regional championships, 1 semi-state championships and 2 MSC championships as well as many school records.

Celebrity Takes in a Salem Basketball Game
Comedian John Crist was in Brooks Memorial Gymnasium Wednesday night to watch the Lions defeat Crawford County in the final home game of the season. Crist was there to watch his long time friend, head coach Will Cantrell, lead the Lions on the court. Word quickly spread of his attendance and it didn't take long before a swarm of people were asking to get their pictures taken with him and he graciously obliged them.
2 More Jerseys Placed on the Lions at the Next Level Collegiate Wall!
The latest jerseys added to the Collegiate Wall are from Tyler Huls and Julie Peters.
Tyler Huls is a 2008 graduate who participated in football, basketball and track while a student at SHS. After high school Tyler attended Franklin College (NCAA Division III) where he starred for the Grizzlies as a defensive back.
After graduating from Salem, Julie Peters continued her basketball career at Cleveland State (NCAA Division I) where she starred for the Vikings.

Process for Nominating Former Lions for the Salem Athletic Hall of Fame and Criteria for Jersey on the "Lions at the Next Level" Wall
The Salem Athletic Hall of Fame (HOF) can include former athletes, coaches, and persons of merit who have made a huge impact on our athletic programs. To receive information concerning criteria and also to obtain a nomination form please contact the Athletic Office at 812-883-3904 or email hweedin@salemschools.us
The "Lions at the Next Level" wall is not affiliated with the HOF although a former athlete may be recognized for both. The Lions at the Next Level project is designed to recognize former Lion athletes who went on to compete for 4 years (completed eligibility) at the collegiate level AND obtained his/her college degree in the process. To receive more details on this process and what is required please contact the Athletic Office at the number/email listed in the paragraph above.
