Mrs. Heisdorf's Newsletter

December 7th - 11th

Thank you

There were many familiar faces last night at Family Game Night. Thank you so much for coming and supporting our fun event.

We have been learning about realistic fiction stories. I am reading aloud the realistic fiction story, Because of Winn-Dixie. We have been learning about the different elements that make up realistic fiction and have been working developing characters. In particular, the students have been developing their main character for their own realistic fiction story that they will be writing next week!

We are finishing up our study of multiplication and division. The students are using so many good strategies to solve equations! Even though we are going to be moving on to a new math unit, please continue to encourage your child to practice his/her facts. It will be important for her/him to be quicker at recognizing the answers as he/she will be using her/his knowledge of the facts to figure out more difficult equations in the future.

Social Studies

We have been learning about how different cultures celebrate the holidays. In addition, we will be studying about different kinds of maps and how to use them.
