Character Strong lessons take place every Wednesday!
Character Strong is the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that we utilize at BBIS.
Our focus for the month of October is Courage. Encourage your child to: believe in him/herself, try new foods/tasks/ideas, not be afraid to ask, and overcome obstacles and hardships...persevere!
We also have a Character Strong Family D.A.R.E. for you to try:
Red Ribbon Week-October 25-29, 2021
Pumpkin Decorating (not carving) and/or Poster Contest celebrating Red Ribbon Week!
Your child may now start decorating a pumpkin or doing a poster in honor of Red Ribbon Week. Students will be judged on the following categories and awards will be given for posters and pumpkins (10 awards-5 for posters and 5 for pumpkins):
"Best Decorated"
"Most Beautiful"
"Best Red Ribbon Theme"
"Most Creative"
"Best Overall"
All entries MUST have a Red Ribbon Week theme. Pumpkins will line the front entry hallway and can be delivered Oct. 25-29, 2021. Pumpkins must be turned in by Oct. 28th at 8 a.m., in time for judging. We will reveal the winners on the announcements, Oct. 29th.
Students will be having an assembly from Montgomery County Sheriff Marshall Williams and will be viewing and discussing "Natural High" videos during the week, to learn more about the harmful effects of drugs.
On Wednesday, students will also make a pledge to remain drug-free by signing their name on red ribbons. These will be displayed in the hallways.
