News bites from your librarian | Spring '13

Instruction sessions

During Fall Semester, I led instruction sessions for 30 classes in the College of Business. If you have a research intensive course or a project that students have struggled with in the past, please contact me via email or phone to set up a session tailored specifically to your course.

Library Guides

The Library Guides for the programs within the College of Business were viewed more than 13,000 times during Fall Semester. Guides aimed at specific assignments are more likely to be used. You can see a few samples below:

If you'd like me to create a guide for your class, please let me know. I hope to revise most of the existing subject guides over the summer.

Database update

The libraries added Springer Link to our online collection last semester. This full-text database contains journals, books, protocols, online reference books, and book series published by Springer. Some of the disciplines covered include Business & Management, Computer Science, Economics, Social Sciences and Statistics.

Springer Link offers 2,769 fully peer-reviewed journals and 53,829 books online. The e-books also can be found and accessed through the RacerTrac catalog. I can set up a search demonstration if anyone is interested.

New books

The University Libraries are adding books all the time. To see what was added last semester:

If you know of a book or another item that you would like to be added to our collection, contact your faculty ordering representative. The next deadline for faculty ordering is Jan. 31. The final deadline for this academic year is March 1.
