Updates for the Week
Hello Wilkesboro families! It’s hard to believe it, but the fourth and final quarter of our school year starts tomorrow! This week is a full five day week of school, and we look forward to welcoming back many remote students. Here are some updates for the week of March 22-26.
This week, we are excited to launch a “WE PLAY TO LEARN!” fundraising campaign to raise funds to replace our aging Big Toy playground. This well-loved playground has been in use for 26 years, but it is in desperate need of replacement. We will be sending home information this week about ways your child can participate, so please be on the lookout for ways that you can help. This is our one and only fundraiser this year.
We continue to accept enrollments for next year’s kindergarten class through March 31. Students who will be five on or before August 31, 2021 are eligible. Please see our “Hello Kindergarten” page on our website for more details. https://www.smore.com/csa5t
We are still taking orders for our 2021 yearbook through March 31. The cost is $25, and we will only order yearbooks for those who order in advance. You can order a yearbook by returning the envelope and payment to school OR by ordering directly online from our website. https://wes.wilkescountyschools.org/apps/news/article/1348791
Please continue to work on the 25-day reading challenge!

Parents, please note that since we have moved to Plan A, students who are participating in Plan A will be marked PRESENT or ABSENT. If your child is not in school, you will need to send in absence notes as usual and it will be coded as excused or unexcused. If your child is officially quarantined or excluded by the health department and/or the school nurse, your teacher will offer remote learning. If your child participates and submits work each day, the student will be marked PRESENT OFF SITE (1R). If not, the quarantine absences would be excused. If your child needs to be out, we will work with you to make sure your child doesn't get behind.
For students who continue with remote learning note that in order for us to count your child in attendance off site, we must on a daily basis verify that the student is engaged (completing and submitting assignments), on pace (participating in the virtual classroom), or receiving academic/emotional support (directly from the teacher). If this isn't happening, your child will be counted absent. Please make sure that your child is submitting work and that you are communicating with the teacher daily. Thanks in advance for your help!
