Lane Intermediate Community Message

Be A Star
"Congratulations to Julieta Gasga, Samyiah Harper, Bailey Slade, and Matthew Stevenson, who were all accepted into the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association 2020 All-State Choir. They will work with renowned conductors, and represent Lane Intermediate among some of Wisconsin's strongest singers! They will perform a concert in Appleton in January to display their efforts.
Congratulations should also be extended to Julieta Gasga for her acceptance into the Central/North Central American Choral Directors Association Honor Choir. Julieta auditioned against students from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and was selected as one of the honor choir participants! She will represent Lane Intermediate in a concert in Milwaukee in March to a conference of choral directors from all of the states listed above.
Congratulations to all of our singers. Way to be a star and represent Lane!"

Principal's Message
The end of first quarter is approaching quickly. Your son/daughter's grade will be posted November 12th. However, parents always have the opportunity to log into Skyward to check progress. In addition, feel free to communicate with teachers when questions arise.
Our next parent teacher conferences will be December 12th from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm. We have listened to your feedback. The entire time will be allocated to families talking to teachers. We will use the arena style format, however we are looking at space and placement of staff.
PBIS is running an incentive from November 1 - November 18th @ 3:00 pm. Students need to have all work completed and all detention minutes served to qualify.
Continue, to remind your son/ daughter to be on time to school and to class. We continue to review and enforce school wide expectations.

AM Detention
Parents,
We have started offering morning detention. If your son/daughter receives an am detention, you will be notified by staff via phone call and/or email. Your student will be notified by a yellow slip from the staff member. If they miss the detention, we will provide follow up communication. If transportation is an issue, please contact Mr. Hammernik via email hammernikr@wawmsd.org or call 414-329-6612.
When: Before School (7:20 - 7:35) 15 minute increments
Where: Room 105
Why: Not meeting behavior expectations
During this time, students will:
Be working on an academic task (read, draw, write, study, etc).
Not be talking, eating, sleeping, or on electronic devices.
Possible exceptions: Breakfast is allowed. Technology for academics.
Tardy to Class
Now that staff and students are using passes in the hallway, we are noticing a few stragglers. It is an expectation that students are in class on time and ready to learn. Therefore, we need students to have an urgency to get to class.
Teachers are in the hallways encouraging students to get to class on time. When the bell rings, if students are in the hallway administration and available staff will:
Record the students name
Bring the student to class
Assign an am detention -- that should be served the next morning in room 105

Morning Procedure
As the weather is changing, I want to remind families of our morning procedures. When it is dry, students are outside until 7:20am. At 7:20 am, the students that would like to eat breakfast are allowed to enter the cafe. Everyone else is outside until the bell rings at 7:35 am. We are outside until the weather is in the 10 degree range.
If you have a music student with an instrument, Ms. Franklin will escort groups to the music area to drop of their instrument and then the students will return to the cafe to eat or go back outside until 7:35am.
Our bells ring at 7:35am and students enter the building to proceed to lockers and classrooms. Class starts at 7:45 am. If your son/daughter arrive after 7:45am, they report to the office and they receive a tardy pass. If they are excused, please communicate the reason to the office so the tardy is excused.
Our goal is 95% attendance. We love having everyone at school and ready to learn.
