School is almost out! And perhaps kids are excited, but perhaps you may be seeing more meltdowns as the pressures and deadlines of end of year events mount. In this article are some resources to consider as we wrap up these last few weeks.

8th Grade News

The date for 8th grade graduation is Tuesday, June 7 at 6pm. This is also the last day of school for 8th grade students.

Last day for 8th graders will include:

Various team activities including graduation rehearsal, yearbook signing
8th Grade will visit SHS from approximately 1:30-3:00pm
Regular dismissal at 3:24pm

Graduation Ceremony:

8th Grade Graduation is held at 6pm followed by a dance for 8th grade students only until 9pm.
Students should be in their seats by 5:45pm. The ceremony typically lasts for about one hour.
The ceremony will be held on the lawn behind the school if the weather permits; in this case, there will be no limit on the number of guests each student may bring.
In case of inclement weather, we will hold the ceremony in the gym. We ask that no more than two guests attend per student. We will NOT issue tickets, we simply ask that all comply with this limit. We will send an email and post the location of graduation on our website/FB page as soon as possible during the day of graduation if the weather is at all questionable.
8th Graders who do not attend school during the day on June 7 will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony or attend the dance.

DRESS: We ask that students dress in a manner which is appropriate for the occasion. In recent years, girls have worn dresses or skirts/blouses and boys have worn slacks or nice shorts with a collared shirt. We ask that the guidelines for dress outlined in the student handbook be used when selecting dress for the evening.

DANCE: The dance immediately follows the graduation ceremony in the AMS café until 9pm. This is a dance for our 8th grade students only. Students who do not attend the graduation ceremony will not be permitted to attend the dance. There is no admission fee but the Kona ice truck will be selling treats.

June 8: Step Up Information

4th grade students from Wilkins and 6th grade students from MVVS will join AMS 5-7th graders in Step Up Day activities on the last day of school, June 8, from approximately 9:15-10:15am. Similar to previous years, students will "step up" to meet their next year's grade level teachers and be introduced to general grade level information, curriculum areas, activities, supplies lists, etc.

Students will be served lunch on the last day of school and will be dismissed at 12:25pm.

Specific team placements will be announced to parents/students in early/mid August. Final year-end grade reports will be available in the Empower Parent Portal in mid-June and will also be mailed home.
