TBMS April Update
We are Safe, Kind & Responsible
Message from Mr. Beierman
Hello Twin Bluff Middle School families!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful spring break and that you were able to enjoy some quality time together doing something that you enjoy. I find it hard to believe we are entering the month of April already. The snow is melting, mud is everywhere, and we only have two months of school left together for this year.
April is always a busy time of year as we kick off the 4th quarter and the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA’s) at Twin Bluff Middle School. We start the assessment on April 18th and test all students in reading (April 18-21st) and mathematics (April 25-28th). Grade 5 students also get assessed on science (May 1-2nd). As a parent/guardian, we ask you to ensure your student gets a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast. We will also be providing our normal “grab and go” breakfast to ensure all students have a full tummy prior to starting the assessments.
Kick-off the Spring Bus Stop and Walk Event
Starting Friday, April 14th
We’re excited the Bus Stop and Walk event is being kicked off again Friday, April 14th, and will continue every Friday until the end of the school year (weather permitting). The Bus Stop and Walk (BSW) program takes Safe Routes to School to another level by ensuring that every student is provided the opportunity to be active before school. During this event, students will be dropped off at the far end of the bus lot where they will be met by a staff member and other volunteers, who will encourage them to walk a lap around the track and then lead them into the school on a designated path. This allows students the opportunity to walk to improve physical and mental health and increase academic performance. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Thank you for supporting our students every day, we appreciate all that you do!

Students will be bringing home eWallet information and a preview flyer. Please visit our school's book fair website to set up the eWallet and make a wish list with your student. Thanks for supporting the Twin Bluff Book Fair!
Scoliosis Check for 5th Grade Girls
Outdoor Gym was Great Fun!
Student-Led Conferences Were a Success
Most of the comments about the Student-Led Conferences were positive. Parents and guardians liked that the students had to take more ownership of their "job" in school. One negative, is that parents/guardians may not have been able to visit with a teacher from a class they were concerned about. Please remember that you can email your student's teachers with questions throughout the year. The staff emails are listed on this page of the district website:

Attendance Line can be used for appointments too!
Please use the Attendance Line 651-385-4550 or email tbmsattendance@rwps.org to leave messages about absences, appointments and late arrivals for your students. We prefer that you do not email teachers, because they may not see the email, especially if there is a substitute. Traci will give your student a pass for leaving early and your student will wait in the office until you pull up and you won't even need to come in.
Friday afternoons the office tends to get a lot of parents just dropping in to pull their students out. It would be much more efficient if you could call the attendance line and make your request earlier in the day. Thank you.
School Safe ID
A new visitor check in system is in use at all district buildings. The safety of all within our buildings is a priority, but also welcoming parents and community members. This system allows the district to do both.
Please bring your state-issued I.D. in the building when you come to volunteer, or attend a parent meeting. The system will use the visitor's name and date of birth to check the national offender database. Once cleared, the visitor will be issued a badge that has their phone, name, date and destination in the building. If the visitor doesn't have the I.D. with them, the staff can enter the name and date of birth manually. If they don't want the data entered, the staff can escort them throughout the building. If a visitor is just dropping off something for their student, the system will not need to be used. Please be patient as we all adjust to this new system together.
Outdoor Recess in the Spring...or is it still Winter?
It is Spring, but it is Minnesota....so that means winter gear or at least warm jackets may be needed until late April! Please be mindful that the 5th graders have recess, so they should always have their coats, hats and gloves with them. They will be outside if the temperature (including the wind chill) is zero or above.
Free Money for our School
Family Fare grocery receipts can still be dropped off in the office. We put them with all the other building's receipts to receive a donation to the district when we reach a certain level.
