OAK CREST FAMILY TIGER TOPICS
November 19, 2021
Next week = Short week. No school Nov 24-26.
Happy Friday,
I hope your family is healthy and is able to enjoy the upcoming short week of school and the start of the holiday season. There are so many great experiences for families and kids around the corner and that will be especially true at Oak Crest.
This past week our 5th and 6th graders went to the BPHS production of "Shrek the Musical." It was not only fun and entertaining, but a first theater experience for many kids. It was a wonderful chance for OC kids to learn from older BP kids as they model bravery, confidence, talent, and the dare to dream. I am so thankful that our community of schools works together to make these opportunities a reality.
Another experiential learning opportunity on the horizon is a presentation by Jackie Bird. Jackie is a native american storyteller. She shares her positivity and goal of peace and healing through storytelling, dance, and song. She will perform for the whole school on November 23rd.
I do continue to remind kids that for us to be able to enjoy these experiences, we need to continue to do a great job of being safe and healthy. That includes making good personal choices about spacing, sanitizing, masking, and monitoring your own symptoms of illness. Thank you families for your partnership in keeping our community healthy.
Have a great weekend!

Social Media Safety
We have noticed an increase of issues with social media and tech related incidents. Almost all of these situations occur outside of school hours and off school property, but the challenges they create with emotions, friendships, and safety, follow kids to school. We will always support students at school the best we can, but can not resolve out of school issues. Please help keep your kids safe by properly monitoring their phone use and social media accounts. Remember, our policy at school is no cell phone use without adult permission.
Thank you for your partnership in this support of children that we did not have to manage when we grew up. It is a whole new world of responsibilities.
