DANCE CATS ARE OFF TO NATIONALS!!
The Dance Cats will be competing in Orlando at the Varsity Universal Dance Association National Dance Team Championships held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports next week. These athletes train all year and for 4-5 hours daily during National season while keeping up with their school work, family, friends, jobs and church. This training and their successes at the Championships (all teams doubled titled as National Champions in Hip Hop and Pom last year and the Senior team are back to back Hip Hop champions) have resulted in every Dance Cat who has wanted to dance at the college level making a college team. While the competition is Friday and Saturday, they will be traveling and training the other days. This means that they will actually not have their computers with them and will not have access to the internet. Believe it or not they actually give up their phones for the majority of the time they are there. These dancers have been reminded that they need to reach out to their teachers to not only let them know they will be gone, but to make arrangements to make up missed work.

SENIOR PARENTS - WORK ETHIC DISTINCTION CERTIFICATES
What is the certificate for?
The Oak Ridge Schools Board of Education has approved the attainment of a Work Ethic Distinction, a distinction that has been available for seniors since 2020. What it entails is students providing a certificate to potential employers that they have been demonstrating desirable work skills.
How do I earn this certificate?
Students are to attain 20 points from the list shown below the image of the certificate here. When they provide evidence of success on these measures, they will be awarded a Work Ethic Distinction Certificate that will serve as part of the student’s job application portfolio.
Logos of employers who have already indicated they are willing to grant preference in interviewing a student who presents a Work Ethic Distinction Certificate are included on the face of the certificate. The list of employers who want to join this effort is growing. An ongoing list of such partner employers will be kept at our local chambers of commerce.
Please have students download the application here and complete the applications for this distinction and return them to Dr. Holly Cross, Supervisor of Career Readiness—ORHS CS244 before April 1, 2022 for recognition at graduation.
BEN MARTIN TRACK UPDATE!
We are blown away by the generosity of our donors! Just over the weekend, we cleared the bar for our first major fundraising goal, surpassing the $9,800 needed to fully fund our brand new set of 21st century hurdles. We are so excited for these to line the track when we move into our new, cutting edge facility this June.
Thanks to you all, we are also already well on our way towards funding our much-needed new high jump pit. Right now, we only need $6,000 to hit our mark!
