News From the Nest
Evansdale Summer Newsletter - June Edition
A Letter from the Principal
Dear Evansdale Families,
It is hard to believe the 2016-17 school year has ended. Now that summer is upon us, I hope that each of you have plans to enjoy some well-deserved family fun and relaxation time. We have had an excellent year with many highlights, including becoming AdvancED STEM certified. The students also engaged in challenging projects and educational field trips to numerous locations including the Civil Rights Museum, Rock Eagle, Zoo Atlanta, and the Center for Puppetry Arts.
Georgia Milestone Testing went very well this year. Students showed up on time and ready to test each day. Everyone who needs to attend Rising Scholars this summer has been notified. Test scores will be sent home for all students as soon as we receive them from the district.
As the saying goes, the only constant we can be assured of is change. While it is never easy to lose amazing staff members, a few of ours have elected to leave the eagle nest. Please join us in celebrating and wishing each of them all the best the future holds.
Mr. Ted Russell - ESOL Teacher
Ms. Jessica Luhrs - Music Teacher
Ms. Gabrielle LaMothe - 3rd Grade Teacher
Ms. Nora Janvier - 3rd Grade Teacher
We are excited about and have already started planning for the 2017-18 school year. It will be Evansdale's 50th Anniversary. Please keep us in your thoughts throughout the summer as the administration and staff work hard making all the necessary preparations to have an Eagle Soaring Year ahead!
On behalf of the administration team and school staff, I want to thank each of you for your financial, volunteer, and school support. We could not teach our students to the degree that we are able to do so without a good school/home partnership.
Have a great summer vacation! Students - Please read for at least 20 minutes each day. We look forward to your return to the nest in August!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Chattman
Principal
