In Case You Missed It:
Friday night was a so much fun at the 8th grade social! Our 8th grade team organized and delivered a memory filled evening for our senior Stallions! I loved watching our kids laugh, dance (with each other and their teachers), talk, play Miss Mary Mack and UNO...just being KIDS! I also watched multiple students from different sets of friend groups go over to be kind to a fellow student that was sad and sitting in the corner. It warmed my heart. Then our 8th grade king went to the student and asked if the student would like his crown. The student beamed from ear to ear, jumped up and out of his funk, and hugged our king around the neck. This made me realize our kids are ready to move on to high school. They have learned compassion, how to put other's needs before their's, and how to support each other. They still are kids and make mistakes. We will be here to help support them when they do, pick them up and steer them back in the right direction. This is what we do at SanLee...help mold kids into great people.
I want to give another shout out to our teachers with bus licenses; Tommy Harrington, Jake Stevens, Kimberly Morrill, and Christina Reed, for helping out wherever and whenever they can to drive our regular bus routes. We have been in a real pinch all year and don't know what we would do without them stepping up doing whatever it takes!
Kudos to Anna Whalen for organizing and facilitating our fifth grade tours last week. Our tour guides were wonderful student ambassadors showing our newest Stallions around their new home. We will open our doors on Tuesday afternoon from 4-6 pm to the entire family to help transition everyone into the family smoothly.
Sheryl Bristow, 6th grade science teacher and first responder, will be leaving us at the end of the year to teach in Arizona. We are fortunate to have had Sheryl with us for three years and know she will do excellent things in AZ!
After school tutoring forms went home on Friday. Homeroom teachers should ask for these Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. You should collect after Wednesday and put in the form but bus transportation will only be available to those that return before I send lists to the bus garage. I will be send out a form each morning to be filled out DAILY with student information. PLEASE be CAREFUL when filling out the form and ensure you are putting everything asked and according to the forms returned. Information will be used to create bus routes and classes. *If you have a sub on your team, make sure someone on team gathers the forms from that room and input information for those students! Please check your calendars and talk on your grade levels and in PLC's about available personnel to assist for the 4 weeks after spring break. We will be doing test taking strategies, growth mind set lessons, and vocabulary building these weeks to get kids ready for tests.
