MPES Connection

Message from Mrs. Mamon
After two snow days to begin the week, semester 2 got off to a great start on Wednesday! Thank you to our families, teachers, staff and students for helping to make any class transitions as smooth as possible. We appreciate your continued support!
Quarter 2 Grades
Final grades for Quarter 2 are available to view in the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal. See below or click here for pictures of each step to access grades in PowerSchool. Specific information about your child's grades in STEM and specials can be found further down in this newsletter. Please contact your child's teachers with any questions about how your child is progressing or a specific assignment.
There is now another option to view your student’s grades in the parent portal. After logging in to the parent portal, click on the Report Card button in the left menu (see below for a picture of the button). This will provide a report card style view of your student’s grades. This view will be very helpful if your student was assigned to a new teacher for the second semester. The report card view will allow you to see the grades from his/her semester 1 teacher.
Please note that this is not an official MPCS report card. If you have a need for an official paper report card, please contact our main office.
Other Important Notes:
- We are excited to share that our Girls on the Run program is returning to MPES this spring in a virtual format! Please see below in the newsletter for information on how to sign up. Registration begins on Monday, February 8. Please contact our head coach, Mallory Winner, at mallory.winner@mpark.net with any questions about the program.
Don't forget to send pictures of our students learning at home! I love seeing and sharing them in my weekly newsletters. Snap a picture and send it to me at stacey.mamon@mpark.net.
Sincerely,
Stacey Mamon
Principal

How to View Your Student's Progress in STEM
The STEM report card is based on the 4 C's, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. Levels of scoring in STEM is based on participation in those 4 areas.
The levels within the 4 C’s include:
Novice – student needs assistance in completing most tasks in STEM
Apprentice – student can progressively complete tasks with less assistance
Practitioner – student can complete most tasks without guidance
Expert – student can complete tasks alone and can assist others.
Within the levels there is a scoring system (1-4) that runs in numerical order and progresses toward the next level (ex. P4 would be Practitioner 4 – meaning that the student is completing tasks without assistance).
To check your child's progress in STEM:
- Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.
- Click on Grades and Attendance
Click on Standards Grades
