Principal's Message

Friday nights were made for pizza!

Last school year our PTA hosted our first annual Pizza Kit Giveaway and it was a huge success. We are bringing back this awesome event on Friday, September 27th. Our PTA will provide pizza kits from Extreme Pizza that families can pick up between 4:00-6:00. Please join us by signing up for this event.

Our first Site Council meeting is coming up at the end of the month. Thank you to the parents who volunteered. I will be reaching out to them directly. We make data-based decisions to support our students' learning. I will be reviewing the results of last spring's "Youth Truth" family survey and outlining a preliminary plan for the year. Everyone is welcome!

I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about the amazing enrichment programs our students enjoy at Murwood. In Art your child will imagine, execute, reflect, and refine in addition to creating, presenting, and connecting to art and their work. In Music your child will develop the skills necessary to produce music, reflect, critique, and connect personal experience to music. Science Lab is one of experimentation, test, failure, and discovery, and covers ecosystems to organisms.

I want to thank our families and community members who come together to support WCEF because these programs are not possible without additional funding from WCEF. State funding is just not enough to cover the cost. So thank you for giving the gift of creativity, discovery, and experimentation to our Mustangs!

Shonah Tovah to all of our families celebrating Rosh Hashanah.

Remember to Complete the Daily Symptom Check

We are in need of volunteers to help facilitate the Walking Club. Volunteers help to monitor and encourage the kids, manage the cards, and handle reward distribution (it gets busy!). Walking Club is a hugely popular recess activity at Murwood and the Murwood PTA is excited for its return this school year! Kids get to walk the Murwood track and get colorful or sparkly feet as a reward. We need volunteers from 11:45am-12:45pm. If you can help, please sign up HERE and note the days of the week you are able to volunteer your time.

Our teachers need ROOM PARENTS!!

As room parent you will facilitate communication between parents and the teacher, parent-teacher association (PTA), and support the teacher in needs that may arise. This is a super fun and easy way to get involved! Please sign up HERE or contact Diane Lienhard for more information.

Thank you to those who have generously donated to our One & Done Annual Fund! If you have not yet made your donation to the Annual Fund, visit or complete this form.

Fundraising Update

It’s been a fantastic start to this year’s fundraising efforts—over $455,000 has been raised since July 1, or 35% of our $1.3 million goal. Thank you for your support! This money is spent on programs, salaries, and services for your child’s education, this school year. Every day your child benefits from your donations to WCEF.

If you’ve donated, remember that your gift is tax deductible. And please check to see if your employer matches. If you haven’t yet donated, you can give today.

September 8 is International Literacy Day

School library programs are key to a good education. Through your generosity, WCEF funds support a full time, credentialed librarian at WCI as well as a team of librarians across all TK-8 schools. Celebrate this win on International Literacy Day, September 8! And thank you to our donors for seeing the value in a credentialed librarian and library programs for all.
