Message from Dr. Kaminski
Today we were excited to consider having recess outside until we realized the ice is outdoing the students. We will keep the kiddos inside and hope the warmer temps this weekend will melt the grounds so we can get outside next week. Remember we WILL go out, all students, if the temp is 15 degrees or higher (with windchill). Please send your children with appropriate hats, gloves, etc. to ensure they are not put in seriously cold situation.
I am excited to announce that both the HSE Preschool of the Natural Sciences and Kindergarten are now open for enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year. I would appreciate any and all help spreading the word that we will have Open House events here at Brooks School for parents and community members who are shopping for, or interested in, learning more about both programs. Details are below.
I hope to see you and your friends at these events in the coming months. Never hesitate to call me if you have any specific questions or needs.

SafeVisitor ID Badges
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their SafeVisitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (iPhone/Android) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names occasionally leads to signing in the wrong guest.
To ADD your badge to the app, you'll need the email address used when you went through the background check process and your PASS ID. You should have received a PDF of your badge via email from info@safevisitorsolutions.com. Below the photo is a number. This is your PASS ID.
Upon leaving the school, please turn your printed badge in to the office staff for quick check-out.

News from the Clinic
HEAD LICE:
From time to time a case of head of head lice is reported to the school throughout the year. Should a case of head lice be brought to the school’s attention, the school nurse will maintain confidentiality of the student’s identity and assist the staff and parents with educational material. While the odds of your son or daughter developing a case of head lice are relatively small, the following includes information on head lice and the signs and symptoms. You may also find more information by going to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website at http://www.cdc.gov. Click here for Head Lice 101.
ILLNESS:
When you call to report your student will be absent from school because of illness, please report the symptoms of their illness. This is helpful to the school nurse in tracking certain illness rates.
-Fever: A student must be fever free (oral temperature measuring less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit) without
the aid of a fever reducer for 24 hours.
-Vomiting/Diarrhea: A student who has vomiting/diarrhea due to illness must stay home from school and be
vomit/diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school.
The HSE Clinical Handbook can be found on the HSE website under the Parent tab, then the Health Services/Immunization tab.
Thanks!
