Spring MAP testing
Dear Parents,
Between now and the end of April, your child will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress™ (MAP). We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of Reading(Grades K-5) and Math(Grades K-5). Your child will take the tests on a computer or iPad.
MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. And with MAP tests, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s growth. Following each testing period (Fall, Winter, and Spring), you will receive a report showing your child’s growth.
The MAP assessment helps us design individual instruction for your child to meet their academic needs. Please talk to your child about their goals for Spring MAP testing. In addition, please make sure your child is well rested and has a healthy breakfast on the days they are testing. Your child’s teacher will let you know the specific days in April that the students at that class and grade level will test. We appreciate your support and involvement in your child’s education.
For more information on resources for parents, click on the Parent Toolkit listed below. If you have any further questions, please talk to your child’s teacher or call the school office to speak with Mrs. Stacy or Mrs. Carpenter.
We are now partnering with Remke's!
In addition, we are now a Sixth Sense Partner Organization. Read below to find out how to participate...
A customer will receive 6¢ off their order when they bring in their own Remke eco-friendly/reusable bags to tote their groceries home. In addition, the customer will receive a wooden token worth 6¢ to donate to one of the three charities (pick us, pick us!) noted on our Sixth Sense charity bin. This is a great opportunity for Taylor Mill Elementary School to get recognition from the community!
How Do I register My Remke Card and Sign Up for The Caring Neighbor Program?
· Go To www.remkes.com
· On the home page in the upper right hand corner there is a box to either log on to or register your account
· On that page you will need to input all 12 digits of your Remke card number
· Enter your name, address, e-mail address, password, etc. There is a drop down box with all of the choices of Nonprofit organizations who participate in our Caring Neighbor Program. Choose one.
· At the bottom of the page click the save button.
· That’s It! Remke Markets will keep track of the purchases you make with your Remke card and issue a check to your organization every quarter for up to 2% of your purchases!
· We will be asking you to re-designate your organization every year in September.
The customer can also come into the store with their Remke card and the Customer Service Associate can link their choice of School or Non-Profit Charity to the customer’s Remke card.

Tiger Cubs
Attention parents of newborn to preschool age children:
We are starting up a new club at TME and we want you and your young child to join! All club members will receive a “Tiger Cub” backpack filled with goodies and early education materials. We also want to encourage your school age child to read to your younger children. See the flyer that came home on Friday or contact Mrs. Munich in the FRC with questions at 356-4639.
The Importance of Good Attendance
This continues to be a friendly reminder. All families only want what is best for their children. When planning trips, please remember even one missed day at school impacts your child’s academic progress. Please continue be aware of the school calendar when planning vacations around holidays and only keep your child home from school when it is absolutely necessary. Making up missed assignments after an absence cannot replace the high quality classroom instruction your child receives everyday as a student in the Kenton County School District. Every day counts when it comes to your child. Please continue to support your child’s education by only allowing your child to miss school if it is absolutely necessary.
