Social Impacts of Slavery
The slave trade had ultimately decreased the African population of about 16 million people. societies in West Africa between Sengal and Angola were highly exposed to ports, where many were enslaved. Two thirds of the slaves were male, which had effects on the demographics, showing as Angola had a 2:3 female population
Political Impacts
Internal slave empires would trade their people for weapons. These weapons were used to force other slaves for trade. The Africans had actually traded them away to gain goods for themselves.
Plantation Systems
The first plantation was in 1516 in Hispaniola. Many crops included sugar, indigo, rice, and tobacco. These systems were based on the foundation of slave labor.
Resistance
The slaves had often taken part in rebellion due to their unfair situation. Techniques had included deliberately working slowly or sabotaging equipment. Slaves would even run away to form societies to govern themselves. The Slave Resistance was the biggest resistance, where the number of slaves exceeded the number of owners.
