Getting Through Adversity
By: Emma Gatz
Introduction
To have perseverance you need to be brave and be willing to try hard. Perseverance is a steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, especially in spite of difficulties or obstacles. The people I am going to talk about are some that have gone through adversity and persevered. Some people included are Jackie Robinson, Noah Galloway, Maury Wills, Jimmy Valvano and Maxcy Filer. These are just a few human beings that have persevered but there are many more. You have probably experienced something similar to these men and woman.

Life with Only One Leg and One Arm
Noah Galloway has only one arm and one leg. This is because Noah went to fight for our country and sadly got hurt. He has persevered through a lot such as, moving around and doing things we find easy. As a result of the problem Noah has a prosthetic arm and leg. He is now mostly healed and is back moving again. Recently Noah was on Dancing With The Stars with partner Sharna Burgess. They placed 3rd in the dancing competition.
Have you ever taken a test 48 times?
Maxcy Filer was 61 when he finally passed the California bar exam. Maxcy started to take this test when he was 36 years old in 1966. Maxcy's dream was to pass this test but he tried and tried but could not pass it. People would look at him funny when he told them he spent $50,000 on taking this test for 25 years. He spent a total of 144 days in testing rooms. Maxcy persevered by taking the test until he finally passed it. He never quit because it just wasn't an option.
