Principal's Message
Hello Wildcat Pride,
Just over a week until we will all be back on campus. The staff and faculty are working extremely hard to get everything ready for a great return. I hope everyone has had a great break and that you are as excited as we are to start the new school year.
I want to emphasize to you all that even though schedules are available to view in infinite campus they are not finalized. Please do not fill out a document to have them looked at right now. The counselors and registration staff are working hard to fill and fix any problems. We won't get them all, but we will not begin looking at the google forms until August 26, so please check your schedule after 5 on the 25th and if you have one of the problems listed submit a ticket. All tickets previously submitted will not be checked as that will slow the process as we look through ones that were already fixed during our time to fix and revise. Classes and schedules are still changing daily as we get new enrollment.
I will continue to share information with you throughout the year, through this newsletter. It should be your one stop shop for any information you may need. We will do everything in our power to not have additional information coming out during the week. The only reason you should see something would be if we felt it was information that we needed to share that could not wait.
To the Freshman and their parents don't forget about Orientation on Thursday, please see the flyer below and rsvp.
We are planning a phenomenal year and cannot wait to get started, See you soon!

Schedule Changes
We know that you are anxious to get schedule changes. Counselors will begin working on schedule changes the week of July 26th. Please also be aware that classes, teachers, and the order of a student’s schedule may change prior to the start of school. Additionally, due to the high volume of requests please allow three business days for a response.
STUDENT SCHEDULES AND CHANGES
Alternative classes may be listed on your child’s schedule due to the following reason(s):
Student did not meet course prerequisite,
Course availability restrictions (course filled up or course cut), and/or
Conflict(s) in the student’s schedule.
If you are requesting a schedule change, please answer these questions:
Is my schedule missing a period during the school day?
Did I attend summer school or take an online course and that course is listed on my schedule?
Am I missing a class needed for graduation?
Please note: Unfortunately we can not honor any elective changes, lunch hour changes, or teacher changes.
If you answered YES to any of these questions above and need to request a schedule change, follow the steps below:
Please complete the MHS 2021-2022 Request for Schedule Change form. Please note that when the counselors return they will begin working through registering new students and schedule changes.
If you need to speak to your counselor, please call 480-632-4750 ext. 1134, starting on July 26, 2021 to make an appointment for help with things other than schedule changes.

PLEASE READ IF YOUR STUDENT WANTS TO BE INVOLVED IN ANY SPORT AT MHS
Athletic Clearance Packets for the 2021-2022 school year must be completed through the RegisterMyAthlete.com website. All students planning to participate in a fall sport MUST have their packets completed online before the tryout date for fall sports of August 9, 2021. Football is the only sport with a different start date of July 26, 2021. We encourage all athletes for winter and spring sports to complete their packets online prior to the start of their season.
If you are unable to upload the athletic clearance packet, please have your student bring their paperwork to the athletic office for processing. Athletic fees are due as soon as your student makes the roster and before any uniform and/or equipment is handed out. The fee is $100.00 per sport and can be paid through MHS Bookstore, or for a fee, tax credit ($1.95 district online) or through Register My Athlete ($6.60 fee).
If you have any questions, please call the Athletic Office at 480-632-4750 X1137 or email Tina at tina.miller@gilbertschools.net
GO WILDCATS!
Fall Sports
One of the most fun experiences for our high school students is to participate in one or more of our many different sports we offer throughout the year. While some sports do require tryouts in order to make the team, we have plenty of non-cut sports that welcome any and all Wildcats to compete for their school while making lifelong friendships and having fun.
In the fall, we offer the following sports: football, girls volleyball, badminton, swim & dive, golf and cross country. With the exception of girls volleyball, the rest of our sports in the fall are non-cut sports. We have great coaches that work with the kids daily to not only improve their skills in each sport but to also grow our young men and women to be outstanding representatives of Mesquite High.
In order to practice on day 1, the following needs to be completed in www.registermyathlete.com:
*All four pages of the physical on this year's form. (forms can be found at www.mesquitewildcats.com).
*Completion of Brainbook and Opioid Education classes (only need to complete once in high school career). The classes can be take at www.academy.azpreps365.com
*Signing off on paperwork within the Register My Athlete website.
We look forward to seeing our Wildcats compete. If you have any questions, you can reach out to the Athletic Dept. Our contact information is on the www.mesquitewildcats.com site. Thanks!

Reminders From The Health Office
2. If your student is going to need to take prescription medication during the school year please pick up the district approved paperwork from the health office.
We will need doctor's orders and parental permission to give prescription medication. The doctor's orders will have to match the medication bottle label. If medication is being given during lunchtime, have the doctor's orders and label state medication to be given during lunch. We do not give before or after school medication.
3. If your student is injured and will need to use the elevator, we will need a note from your doctor on file.
4. If your student is having serious health issues during the school year please be in contact with the school nurse.
