YCC Student Spotlight
The YCC Student Spotlight for the month of September is junior biomedical student Emily Johnson. Emily is very deserving of recognition as she has been an exceptional student, including academics and extracurricular activities. Emily participates in activities as diverse as HOSA, the Unite Club, the Kindness Club, and FFA. She is not only a member of these organizations but is also a leader modeling service to others. In addition, Emily works with younger kids at Nancy Elementary in the after school program.
When asked about her goals after graduation, Emily responded that she would like to enroll in a medical program to either become a vet or a pediatrician. She commented about belonging to YCC and taking PLTW coursework, "I like the fact that this program gives me a lot of hands-on experience with real world problems. I believe this will really prepare me for my future goals."
Emily is not one to wait for success to come to her...she soaks up learning opportunities, taking rigorous classes such as AP Chemistry. An interesting fact about Emily is that her sister is teaching her to read braille. Emily's desire to learn and aptitude for challenging content along with her compassionate heart will certainly help her dreams become reality.
