Weekly message from Administration...

Firebird Families,

We have rounded out our first full week and it has been amazing to see our students engaged in learning and grasping our routines and procedures at GP!

Gavilan Peak believes in educating both academically as well as socially and emotionally. This year we are implementing a new program which will incorporate our Mandarin core values, Digital Citizenship lessons based on our constantly growing technological world, as well as social and emotional topics centered around "Dr. P's Way to Be." Students will be introduced to a monthly theme that will then have weekly topics that align with the theme. Our staff will be presenting these topics for conversations and learning to all K-8 students. We believe with these lessons and conversations in school, and followed up with at home this will help foster and support our students to be their best selves and encourage them to Always Bring their A+ game!

Our August monthly theme is: Change & Resilience

Mandarin Core Value: Wisdom

Weekly theme/Dr. P's Way to Be: Be Positive

Next week: Be Mindful of Others

We want to sincerely thank our PTO and Firebird Families that have volunteered their time this week to assist with custodial duties. Many hands truly do make for light work.

Thank you Firebirds for a wonderful week!

Curriculum Night-Save the Date

Mark your calendar for August 25th for our annual Curriculum Night. Look for a detailed schedule coming soon.

Welcome back firebird families! Its great to be back at school, but unfortunately that means sharing germs with our friends and classmates. Please remind your student to wash their hands, cover their coughs, and drink lots of water.

The summer monsoons bring lots of wind, which spreads summer allergens throughout the valley. Headaches and stuffy noses are not uncommon during our summer storm months. Have your student blow their nose often to get rid of allergens that may have collected in their noses.

If your student has Asthma, Allergies, Seizures, or some other serious medical condition, please arrange to have rescue medication available in the nurses office in case of emergency.

Students who are not up to date on their vaccines should have received letters from the nurse. Vaccines must be updated by September 1st or those students will not be able to attend school until they are compliant. If you have questions about vaccines please contact the school nurse.
