REPORT CARDS
The second quarter has just ended. Report cards were sent home earlier this week. You may notice some items are blank or contain N/A. This is because teachers are encouraged to complete only the information based on content and skills that have been taught and assessed during the first and second quarters. If you would like more information about your child’s progress or would like a time to meet this winter or spring, please contact your child’s teacher.
Read-a-thon Begins Next Week
Help your child find an assortment of genres, choose a topic as a family to read about, create a cozy reading corner in your house, take a family trip to the library – so many ways to make reading fun!
Students set a reading goal, track the minutes read in the reading log, get pledges from sponsors (if they wish) and return them to the teachers on Feb.24th to receive prizes! Every single student that participates in this event receives a prize irrespective of whether they raise money or not. Mark your calendars and check out the flyer for additional information.
Important Dates:
Feb.12--Read-A-Thon packets are sent home
Feb.13--Get family and friends to sponsor you
Feb.14 - Feb.21--Read and log your minutes
Feb.22 - Feb.23--Collect the donations
Feb.24- Feb.26--Turn in Read-A-Thon packets to teacher
Mar.2--Prizes delivered to classroom
Garden Work Party TOMORROW!
Kindergarten Registration Night
February 12, 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria
Please mark your calendars and inform your neighbors if they have a child ready for kindergarten. A child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2020 to enter kindergarten this fall. For our records, parents should bring a copy of their child’s BIRTH CERTIFICATE, IMMUNIZATION RECORDS and PROOF OF ADDRESS. Also, please provide EMERGENCY CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS. (You must attend Kindergarten Registration Night at the school whose boundaries you live in.) Our school principal, secretaries and kindergarten teachers will be present to help you and to answer questions.

Immunization Exclusion Day is February 19
The State of Oregon requires schools to have up-to-date shot records for all students. If your student’s record does not meet the requirements set by the State of Oregon, your child will be excluded from school. Please provide immunization records to the office. Is your student due for immunizations and need assistance? The School-Based Heath Center at Tualatin High School can help! Private insurance? OHP? No insurance? No problem! The SBHC offers a sliding fee based on income. See the attached flyer for more information.

Volunteers! Please read!
Do you want to volunteer for Field Trips? Help in the classroom? Assist with Art Lit? If you are volunteering in the school during the school day, whether a community member or parent volunteer, you must fill out a Volunteer application which includes a background check and completion of a confidentiality and volunteer expectation statement. This can be found by logging into www.helpcounter.net/ttsd.
All approved background checks are good for 3 years. You will receive an email 30 days prior to expiration. Don't forget to include your email address and phone number so you can be contacted. Once your application is approved, an email will be sent to you and the school/s you have selected. If you don't find it in your inbox, make sure to check your SPAM folder, you never know where an email will end up.
We love our volunteers and want you to be informed. Watch this site https://www.ttsdschools.org/Domain/55 for answers to questions you may have regarding volunteering.
