Principal Message

Dear Sequoia Families,

This is a strange new normal we seem to be living with power shut downs and fires nearby. I recognize that some of our families may be on edge or feeling several emotions during this time. Please know that our staff is here for you and your children. We know that feeling safe physically and emotionally is necessary for meaningful learning to happen. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher if there are ways we can support your child at school during this time. RVUSD will continue to be in close communication moving forward as there may be future power shut down events. During this time, I will also be checking air quality conditions hourly to make decisions about students and staff being outside safely. In the event that we enter unsafe air quality conditions, we will have indoor recess, lunch and PE times. Similar to last year, our school district does not provide masks for students but you are always free to have your child bring one to school to use as needed. Thank you for your continued patience during this time.

On another note, we had a very successful Camp Sequoia Walkathon last Friday! Students walked, ran, played and had an amazing day! We could not do this event without the help of all the parent and community volunteers who help set up, run stations and clean up into the night. A special thank you to Amy Niesen, McCall Miller, Dian Ross, Maura Milano and many more for all your vision, planning and preparation for this amazing event and fundraiser! I'm excited to hear how much our students and silent auction earned for our school!

Speaking of great events, we have something new happening at Sequoia this year! We will have the first Sequoia Fall Festival in the garden on November 8th from 3:00-6:00pm. There will be games, activities, snacks and the infamous Pumpkin Fairy Godmother telling stories and granting wishes! This is a free event for all families and we would love for all to come enjoy the fall fun! This is not a drop off event, please plan to accompany your child to the Fall Festival.

Hope you have a great weekend!

An Important Note from RVUSD

PARTICIPATION IN THE NUTRITION PROGRAM DOES NOT IMPACT IMMIGRATION STATUS

It is important that all parents continue to complete meal applications and other forms requested by your child’s school.

K-12 public education is NOT impacted by the Public Charge rule. Neither is your child’s ability to receive nutritious meals and snacks, before, during and after school.
