Instructional & Cultural Focus Area
Aggressive Monitoring:
We have to be lasered focused on what our scholars are working on specifically during the first 10 minutes of class; as this sets the ton for the rest of the class period. Expect scholars to meet your expectations and reward them when they do (positive affirmations, tickets, & merits)
STAR Behavior:
As we come back after a 2 week break scholars are going to be relaxed. Hold them to our standard and require them to exhibit STAR behavior consistently.

Shout out to Ms. Smart for leading morning meeting and for also sending in all of the 6th grade scholar award recipients before the deadline for the entire 6th grade team.
Shout out to Ms. Pietroboni for your continuous work on NJHS and your determination to get it right for scholars!
Shout out to Mr. Luna for demonstrating vulnerability in our conversations.

Shout out to Mr. Wilson for doing whatever it takes to invest our scholars in music.
Shout out to Ms. Thomas for a beautifully decorated awards ceremony and for engaging scholars in speed, distance, and time in class.
Ms. Pietroboni says…
Shout out to the Math team for being AWESOME *three flame emojis*
Shout out to Ms. Smart for being a daily inspiration and excellent mentor by the way she manages to break things down for scholars but also push scholars academically, AND for the way she holds them accountable for their behavior inside and outside of the classroom. I <3 you!
Ms. Golledge says…
Shout out to Ms. Brown for holding EVERYTHING down. Shout out to Ms. Pietroboni for getting the math team excited about intervention! Shout out to Mr. Luna with his data practices this semester. Shout out to Ms. Trachta for her amazing Carmen San Diego activity and Mr. Wilson for his lesson on beats.
Mr. Gardner says…
Shout out to Mrs. Parks for being a resource for all of my random questions and always helping me to grow and try uncomfortable situations.
Shout out to Ms. Landis for giving all scholars specific expectations and holding them accountable, as well as for using ridiculously amazing think-alouds.
Shout out to Ms. Golledge for always getting my back and stepping in wherever help is needed. Beast.
Shout out to Mr. Wright for always having 100% of schollars on-task, and for using data to push kids to IP as soon as they are ready and giving extra time to scholars that need more practice in small groups. Great differentiation.
Shout out to Ms. Thomas for being willing to step in Wednesday at a moment’s notice for morning meeting. Always willing to do whatever it takes.

A Message from the Coach
Dearest Dream Team-
Go for the gold as hard as you can.
Reach for perfection way deep down within.
Jump, soar, and sail, as high as you dare.
The sky's the limit to gravity's snare.
Aim, fire, straight and true.
Accuracy is in the mind; it's all up to you.
Plan your trajectory and follow-through,
Nail the landing for the judges to view.
Practice and perfect your every move,
Align your body in a perfect groove.
Study and sacrifice for the cause.
Push on forward without pause.
Relax and steady your fraying nerve.
Upset your competition with flash and verve.
Focus on the finish tried and true.
A thousand times over, this is you.
So, if you're lucky, and very good, too.
Gold will be waiting at the end for you.
But if you're not lucky, and things fall through,
It's the going, not getting, that counts in this venue.
So, go for it!
The Dream will Fight,
Andrea
