Martin Luther King
(January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968)
Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. He believed that everybody should be treated equally. He was a brave man and he was willing to fight (verbally) for what he believed in. Although he stood up for what was right, he never used violence against anyone. He delivered a public speech about his dream. His dream was to end segregation and fortunately he succeeded.
Martin was influenced by the great leader Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was a very inspirational man. Mr. King Jr. passed on the inspiration and impacted thousands of people. His hope to end racism motivated others. Unfortunately though he was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee by a man named James Earl Ray. We now celebrate on January 18, in remembrance of him and his inspiration.
