Car Rider Drop-off - Arrive before 7:45AM
A standing sign is left out to remind you that must walk your child in.
- Car Line drop-off begins at 7:30am (doors open).
- Students who arrive after 7:45am are considered tardy.
- Signing in at the Main Office is easy and takes just a minute.

The Clinic is Low on Clothes!
Mrs. Cline requests that every student have a change of clothes, including socks and underclothes, in your child's backpack or stored in their locker, every day!
Mud/spills/accidents can happen to any student.
Mrs. Cline is also in need of clothing donations.
There are no shorts to give your child if they have a need during the day.
Please, if your child borrowed clothing, wash it and return it as soon as you can.
First Graders - Vision Checks
- The state of Indiana requires that all first grade students have their vision/eye health evaluated using the MCT (modified clinical technique).
- All 1st graders will be screened on Wednesday, October 27th by a local Optometrist/ Ophthalmologist.
- You will ONLY be notified if your child fails this screening test.
If your child wears glasses or contacts, please make sure they have them at school on this day for accurate testing results.

Family Conferences
Liger Mile - Promoting Health and Fitness for all of the HSE District
- The 2021 Liger XC Mile will take place on Thursday, October 14th at HSEHS!!
- This race/run/walk is for ALL Kdg-6th grade students in the Hamilton Southeastern School District.
- School team scores will be kept for intermediate and elementary schools.
Register Online at RaceRoster.com. Search Liger.
- $20 Entry includes a t-shirt with all competitorsโ schools on the back, and the always awesome LIGER Logo!!
- Medals for top 5 finishers in each grade, both male and female. Ribbons for all Finishers.
- Register online by Monday Oct 11th, 11:59PM.
- Same day registration available at race site: $25 โlimited number of shirts on race day!
Please Let Us Know about Attendance
- If your student will be out for travel, sickness, or another reason, we need to know!
- You can call day or night at 317-915-4270. Please leave a message after hours.
- You can email Alison Jones, attendance secretary, at azjones@hse.k12.in.us, and your student's teacher.
- You can log your absence with a reason in School Dismissal Manager.
- We may also use an app called Talking Points to send text messages when texting is the best way to reach families.
- We need a reason for each student's absence every day. Our nurse will follow up if needed.

First Grade: Growth Mindset and Goal Setting - Helpful Thoughts
- Students will be able to suggest helpful thoughts to encourage themselves to keep trying
Second Grade: Growth Mindset and Goal Setting - We Can Change Our Thoughts
- Students will be able to replace unhelpful thoughts with helpful thoughts.
Third Grade: Growth Mindset and Goal Setting - Planning for Practice
- Students will be able to make a practice plan with a partner.
Fourth Grade: Growth Mindset and Goal Setting - Reflecting on Our Journey
- Students will be able to reflect on the goalsetting process.

PBJ and Cafe Update
Mrs. Cimaglio has put together a peanut butter and naan dippers option.
We will keep you updated on our PBJ shortage as it develops!
Also, we will be returning to the Turkey and Cheese roll-up as an option, rather than a just cheese roll-up.

Volunteering and Chaperoning
- All volunteers are required to wear a mask during school hours, regardless of vaccination status.
- All volunteers are required to have a current background check on file.
Call Sand Creek at 317-915-4270 to find out if your background check is current.

Recreational Basketball Registration Remains Open: Play with us this winter!
Registration for boys and girls interested in skill development and building a love for the game is open at myathletics.com. Offered to kindergarteners through 8th grade. Information and registration can be found here.
Already registered for boys recreational basketball? Learn dates for the free Mudsock Boys Basketball Rec Clinic (registered athletes in grades 2nd-5th), rec evaluations (grades 2nd-8th), and drafts here. This page will continue to be updated as specific times are finalized.
Please note, team assignments for athletes registered for girls recreational basketball will be announced at the end of October.
*High school intramural basketball information will be released at the end of November.
