Students in Ms. Kalama's Home Ec. classroom recently baked bread. Its always amazing to see how much variety can come from one recipe card.
Wait...are you sure this is math???
Hailey and our "volunteer TA" Amelia measuring how far their paper airplane went. Students in 6th grade math are working on measurements and conversions...which is the perfect opportunity to LEGALLY throw paper airplanes in the hallway.

Track Season Off To A Strong Start!
All creatures great and small...
Students in Home Ec recently got a treat as they were studying pre natal development...baby animals. Clover learns about gentle and safe handling of one of our furry infants.
Reading can be fun...
On April 20, Ms. Shasanmi and a small army of helpers had a Literacy night at HMS. Students and families who came learned about some creative ways that students can read, and have fun, received free books, and ate a lot of pizza!
Building a better Mr. Roboto
Mr. Allan's Robotics students showing off a few of their little friends. Students in Robotics learn how to design, build, and then program their Lego Robots in this class.
CTE Robotics Student of the Month!
Itzia Armas-Enriquez is our CTE robotics Student of The Month. Itzia has shown a mastery of building and programming in a short period of time. Itzia is taking on new challenges coming up with diligent solutions to our current unit solving problems within the LEGO Game Missions Board. She has a great engineering mind and grit to overcome challenges by thought and research. Another amazing student at HMS.

Congratulations to our April Rotary Students of the Month
April Rotary Students of the Month:
- Jenson Alvarenga- Parents: Ashley and Berdardo Hidalgo-Lara. The 8th grade staff wanted to recognize Jenson for his kindness to everyone around him, his hard work, and his citizenship. He is involved in HMS Leadership. Jenson loves playing video games, playing with his brothers, and watching TV. His favorite class at HMS is Leadership with Ms. Folkers because she is a nice teacher and the projects they do are fun. He is proud of being a part of Leadership, and being recognized by the staff. He is looking forward to the greater choice of classes, making new friends, being in a new environment, and some of the new classes he will get to take.
- Estrella Montez- Parents Erica Montez and Romone Ramiro. Estrella is being recognized for her work ethic, citizenship, and academic progress. She is involved in basketball, and is a member of National Junior Honor Society. Estrella's hobbies are basketball, drawing, and reading. She is most proud of the hard work she has put into her grades, and she has maintained a 3.5 GPA or above throughout middle school. She is most looking forward to taking Geometry in high school, getting to know a different environment, meeting new friends, and playing new sports next year in high school.
