In the book The Young Elite, there is a girl called Adelina. When she was very young, Adelina was cursed with a mark on her eye because of an illness that was spreading across the country. Her sister and mother also had the illness, but her mother died like every adult that had the illness. Her sister lived, but she had no markings on her body which was unusual. Every person who has had the illness and survived has a mark on their body. The people who survived from the epidemic were called malfetto. The were discriminated by the people of the same race. The people thought that the gods had punished them and were meant to be treated this way. Her father was not infected by the illness but he was on the coco side. Sometimes he would sweet to Adelina, but sometimes he would treat her like trash. Something like bi-polar. He treats her sister like a little angel all the time tough because she has not marking. She was even as beautiful as an angel. One day on a stormy night, Adelina wakes up to her father talking to a stranger in the living room. The stranger wants to buy her for lots of money. Her father disagrees at first but then gets pulled into it. Adelina was scared of what would happen to her so she ran away from her house. Not long after, her father comes chasing after her. Her father catches up with her and stops her. He tells her to come back to the house with him. She tries to run away from him but he grabs her from the hand. She knew that if she went back, she would get sold away. Then all of a sudden, a urge of hatred comes climbing into her heart. All of a sudden, black shadows started to appear around her. She attacked her dad purposely because of the hatred deep in her heart that was there for years. Next thing you know, there's a body on the floor with blood all over it...

He was dead.

When I started to read this book, I didn't think it was going to be as good as the Legend series by Marie Lu. I want to take that back because this book was full of surprises. Some of the events that happened in this book were crazy. I thought this girl was a psychopath. She emotions were unpredictable at times and it would confuse me. You can tell that Marie Lu is an amazing author. Not many authors are able to switch things around during a book to make a plot twist. I also recommend this book. You'll love it no matter what. There's some romance, drama, and emotion in this book. You'll love it!
