Dragon Tales

Are you counting down?
What a busy but wonderful week!
Yes, it was crazy, but it was exciting seeing so many things come together for teachers during our training sessions! I think we are finally at a place where we can slow down and go a little deeper. We will be looking for evidence of solid guided reading during our walk-throughs. Please reach out to our awesome ICs to come observe you, come model for you or even to help plan with you. They are willing and eager to support you!
Special thanks to Ms. Spear, Ms. Barbour and Ms. Berger for sharing their talents and ideas with everyone. You made a difference!
As we move into our second semester, we will begin to tighten up our Tier II practices in the classroom. You should already be protecting your intervention time and doing different and specific activities that address student needs. As you gather more data, please make sure you are including deployment into your routines. Intervention time is essential to help fill gaps. Do not just do whole group lessons, because that is not targeted enough. We will begin to ask about your documentation of your interventions so we can track the effectiveness of them. There will be support offered to help each team manage Tier II, so don't panic :)
After considering where to hang all of our paper chains, we have decided to decorate the cafeteria with them! Some of the chains are already there. If yours is not, please bring it and attach it. We want all of our students to see the power of positivity! We will add your holiday stories on Tuesday. You can hang your story when you come to lunch or at the end of the day! Can't wait to see the creative ideas!
On Friday, we will all need to stay on campus until we get an all clear from transportation. Please make sure all trash from your parties is placed in the hall and be ready to go when the announcement is made :) No racing down the driveway! LOL
Since this is our last Dragon Tales of 2019, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday! We have done some wonderful work together starting off on our new campus. We have built the foundation and second semester we will begin to work on the frame! I can not thank you enough for your perseverance through tough times and positive attitudes and encouragement as we pushed through together. We have started something special!
Get ready 2020, here come the Dessau Dragons!!!

Things to know...
- Remember to close and secure the gate to the primary playground if you come in that way in the morning. We do not lock the small gates, but we do keep the chain wrapped around the closed gate so our runners are not able to push them open. This is a major safety concern, so you help is really appreciated!
- The work site for the new playground is underway! Please be vigilant about strangers on campus and account for all students. Supervision at recess, on both playgrounds, needs to be increased. Please spread out to cover all areas and avoid standing together. This is not a good time to chat. Engage with students and raise awareness :)
- Consider volunteering for Winterfest!
- Remember to give Jessica your team party times for Friday.
- PLC meetings this Thursday during Conference
Ms. Lozano!!
Remember to use your fabulous parking spot up front!!
Remember to prompt for purposeful talk even when you are doing whole group lessons, discussion and guided reading. Expect complete sentences and academic language. Keep expectations high!
