Thank You
Please remember to remind your student about appropriate classroom behavior. I want each student to have a positive Kindergarten experience. Appropriate behavior in school is essential for teaching and learning to be effective. Please encourage your child to talk about their learning and behavior at home. Each child should be able to communicate to you about their day and the choices he/she made. Thank you so much for your help with this at home.
Thank you to everyone who donated items for the classroom. We appreciate you!
This Week in Kindergarten
Welcome to Kindergarten! This week has been a very busy week. Students and teachers are getting to know each other. We have spent a lot of time building a sense of community in the classroom and establishing rules and procedures. Your child is learning how to unpack his/her backpack, turn in their orange folder, take themselves to the restroom, and even how to go through the lunchline and make a food selection. They have met all of their support teachers (art, music, pe, and computer) this week!
This week teachers have been busy gathering beginning of the year data for each student in the areas of letters, sounds, and numbers. We will be sharing some of this information with you at our first conference in September!

Announcements
Please encourage your child to turn in their Daily Folder everyday as I do not check book bags. This folder is a vital part of our parent/teacher communication. Please use it to check your child's behavior chart, send in notes or money and to check your child's classwork. Please enclose ALL money in an envelope with your child's name and teacher name on the outside. Please leave the items that are on the right side of the folder at home unless noted on the paper.
Please make sure you go over with your child what they are eating for lunch and for snack. Often young children get confused about what they are to eat. Please go over with your child what they are to eat for lunch and snack prior to coming to school. Teachers do not make selections for students and students are encouraged to serve themselves as they go through the school lunch line. We have a morning snack time. Please make sure that you send a nutritious snack (fruit, raw vegetables, crackers, etc.) daily as I do not provide snacks for students. Also, please do not send juice boxes to school as all students have access to the water fountain.
Please put a change of clothes in your child's book bag. Please include underwear, socks, shorts and shirt. The clinic does not provide a change of clothing for children.
All students need to wear play clothes to Kindergarten. Students also need to wear socks and tennis shoes as we go outside everyday.
All student MUST have a set of headphones or earbuds for the computer lab. Please write your child's name on the headphones or earbuds and place them in a large ziploc bag with your child's name written on the outside. Please encourage your child to take care of their headphones and to not break or damage them. Students must not put the cords in their mouth or around their neck at any time. Thank you for your help with this at home.
If you have a change in your child's transportation, please contact the school office or send a note with your child. Please do not email transportation changes to your child's teacher as a substitute does NOT have access to teacher email. Also, each student has been provided a dismissal "bag tag" for their book bag. These bag tags must remain on your child's book bag for the duration of the school year. Do not cut them off as it is their "ticket" to get on the bus, go to the car rider line, day care, etc.
Every Friday is Spirit Wear Day! Please encourage your child to wear orange and blue to show their school spirit.
