Alder Weekly Update
Week of November 8, 2020
Message from the Principal
Week of November 9, 2020
Hello Alder Parents, Teachers and Students,
We had a very busy week here at Alder. Teachers are adjusting to the hybrid model with in person and virtual students being taught simultaneously. Sometimes, it is challenge to get active student participation; however, our teachers are using technology to encourage it. Parents, please let your child know we want to hear their voices!
Our teachers taught various lessons about Veteran’s Day. Our Pledge of Allegiance helper that day was Tanner Koob, 6th grade student. He did a great job leading us on this significant day. Also, I saw a wonderful lesson by Mr. Cottelli where he used music, storytelling and a Power Point to share the meaning of Veteran’s Day. He is having his student make cards for the Coast Guard officers “Coasties” to thank them for their service.
It is the end of our first marking period today. As a result, all students’ work must be turned in to get credit and graded in this marking period. Teachers will beworking hard between now and Wednesday to mark assignments and assessments. Then, grades will be posted and available in the portal by the end of 11/18. Parents, please encourage your child to turn work in on time and if this marking period was a challenge, they have time to improve and increase their performance in the next marking period. We know that virtual and in person learning in these times is not easy. Please contact your child’s teacher or administration if you have an issue in which we can help.
Just a quick reminder that if you have not completed and signed the Parent Affirmation Letter regarding the health screening of your child, please do so and send it into school with your child. We really need these returned.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Giardina, Mrs. Day and Ms. Perone
