Owls and Bees: Language Arts News

Fourth Grade

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

My name is Susan O'Neill, and I am your child's reading/language arts teacher for this year. This is my 28th year as a teacher. (Yes, I feel old when I say that!) I started teaching at Rock Prairie in 1999.

My daughter, Kristin, is a freshman attending Texas A&M, and my son, Austin, is a freshman at College Station High School. My husband, Kevin, works for the City of College Station, but he is also a sergeant in the Texas Army National Guard. Kevin has been deployed to the Sinai region of Egypt since January, and we are counting the days for his return-- hopefully in mid-November.

Your child may have told you about Maddy. She is my parrotlet, and I have brought her to school for visits for the past seven years. She is definitely a popular member of our class family.

My goal is to keep you informed on a weekly basis about what we are doing in language arts. I welcome your e-mails and phone calls, as well. My e-mail is soneill@csisd.org, and the school phone number is 979-764-5570.

Parent Orientation is This Week

Please join us this Thursday, September 10, at 6:00. The fourth grade teachers will discuss procedures and academic expectations.

More News Coming Soon!

I will send another newsletter at the end of the week with more details about upcoming assignments. This week your child should be reading "The Hunting Trip," a story I sent home last Thursday. There will be a quiz about the story this Thursday, so your child needs to bring the story to school in his/her red homework folder.
