Principal's Message
Pleasant Union Families:
Thank you to all who came to the Wake County Board Advisory Council Region 3 Meeting with Roxie Cash. I hope the presentation on Draft #2 of the WCPSS Reassignment proposal was informative.
I wish every family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Please enjoy this time with family and friends. Please note school is closed on Wednesday, November 27. I look forward to seeing students on Track 1, 3, and 4 on Monday, December 2.
Please see this note from Natalie Wilson on the Giving Market:
This winter we’re hosting a holiday shop like no other: Giving Market! The Giving Market is a holiday shop that inspires generosity, provides high-quality gifts, and allows every student to participate. Our Giving Market will be in the Makerspace room from December 4th to December 12th.
EVERYONE IS INCLUDED. Every student receives a Giving Dollar which is redeemable for one real dollar at the Giving Market. We want students to be inspired to live with generosity, so students must spend their Giving Dollar on someone else.
HIGH-QUALITY GIFTS. The Giving Market’s hand-picked meaningful gifts are perfect for everyone. With just $20 students can purchase gifts for everyone on their list: mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, brother, sister, cousin, friend, teacher, and pet! All gifts are under $10.
FUN HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE. With the Giving Market Challenge of the Day, students will spread holiday cheer through spontaneous singing and random acts of kindness.
Thanks for spreading generosity and for helping our school this season!

Spotlight of the Week
Our Spotlight of the Week is on our amazing WPAW and their leader Heather Shipley. Here is a quote from one of our crew members:
In WPAW, we update people on the latest news. We work as a team to run the news. We type the script on the teleprompter so the anchors know what to say. Our crew manager works with special guests and the pledgers, and our switchboard operator directs the show. The news helps students stay aware of what is going on. We also have fun doing it!

Readvolution
For the third consecutive year, we will partner with the Carolina Hurricanes to bring READvolution to all of our elementary schools. This exciting partnership will support a community-wide literacy campaign around daily reading outside of school, plus allow students the chance to attend a Hurricanes game. This year the READvolution time frame will be between Monday, Sept. 30 and Friday, Dec. 6, 2019. Students will be able to be part of this event by reading daily for 20 minutes! Parents will log their students reading times on the online log in. We appreciate this opportunity to build lifelong readers and learners in our community.
