Decatur Library Events
The research is clear that students need to read during the summer and can lose progress in reading if they do not. Reading to your student is summer reading as well. Here is some information about summer reading:
Reading Rockets: Great general information about summer reading and how parents can help.
Summer Reading Program at the Indianapolis Library
Did you know that students who are finishing grades 1-6 have the option of using myON over the summer? myON is a collection of over 5000 ebooks. The vast majority of the books have a “read to me” feature. Your student has learned to use this resource at school. Their username and password is the same as the one used for Canvas. If you have questions about myON during the summer, please contact Lynn Hodgkin at lhodgkin@decaturproud.org.
Starbase Summer Camp
STARBASE Indiana – Indianapolis is excited to host two sessions of our Summer STEM Academy this year.
“Young Inventors Camp” is for first-time campers, (rising 5th, 6th, and 7th graders). Participants will engage in "hands-on, minds-on" STEM activities, including engineering challenges, robotics, energy, and computer-aided design.
Just like all our programs, there is NO COST for the camp, but we ask that if you enroll, you commit to attending every day of the session. You will need to provide transportation to STARBASE at: 2002 S Holt Rd, Bld. 15, Indianapolis, IN 46241, and lunch for your camper.
Space in these programs is extremely limited and they fill up quickly! Sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The dates we will be offering are:
Traditional 1 – June 21-25
Traditional 2 – July 12-15
The application opens at 10:00 AM on April 4th. Please click this link to apply:

Decatur Township Culture Guide
E= Events: We cannot control things that happen
R= Response: We can control our response to the event
O=Outcome: Having a proper response will get the desired outcome.
This concept is powerful for all of us. Daily, many things happen that are out of our control. We can lash out or we can pause, think, and then respond. Pausing for reflection allows us to get the outcome that we need and want.
