Eastlake Middle School 11.26.18

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Week enjoying family, friends and food! Welcome back! It's hard to believe that we are only three weeks away until the winter break! Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns and/or comments about the following items:

A. Faculty Meeting. See you Friday at 1:00. We have a special guest. Please be on time. We will continue our PLC alignment discussion and review our Peer Link process.

B. Taste of EastLake! Every year, the EastLake Education Foundation makes a generous donation to our school. We would like to support them by attending the Taste of EastLake event as well as participating in future fundraiser. Please see the postcard flyer below and click on the button to register/sponsor.

C. Staff Party. We have set a date of December 13th at the Sweetwater Reservoir Community Center. We have secured the spot as well as a taquero! We will have more information forthcoming! Please save the date.

D. Celebrating Our Military Families. It was a great week of honoring our vets, active military and their family Please see the picture below as well as the video.

E. Turkey Trot! The kids did a great job running the mile in PE. They gave it their all and several students received special recognition for their effort.

F. Bus Evacuation Drill. On Wednesday, November 28th, please note that students taking the bus will take part in this drill when they arrive to school.

Keep up the great work team!

Triton Trait of the Month (Gratitude)

For the months of November & December we will be focusing on Gratitude, or appreciating what you are given.

When you feel gratitude, you feel a sense of abundance. When you express gratitude—especially when it’s heartfelt—you strengthen your relationships with others. Grateful people are happier and more fulfilled. And gratitude leads you to be nicer to other people: more cooperative, patient, and trusting.

For the months of November & December, we encourage gratitude in others. You can model it for others by talking about the good things that happen to you and reframing difficulties by highlighting positive aspects.

"I love this absolutely stunning sunset!"

"This week has been really challenging and stressful, but I am grateful to have support coworkers."

We hope you will continue to engage in great conversations about gratitude with your students. It is especially appropriate at this time of the year.
